The nation’s capital is bracing for what could be its largest protest yet on Saturday since the death of George Floyd, expanding a massive fenced perimeter around the White House, even as they send home hundreds of active-duty troops who were stationed outside the city.
Over 10 days of protest, the border outside the White House has progressively been pushed back with extensive fencing and barricades. It now extends to the far outskirts of a park complex known as the Ellipse near the National Mall.
Law enforcement officials said they’d pushed the barrier back even further in anticipation of a major event on Saturday.

I’m showing my age, I remember the million man march, and it was a nothingburger, 25 years ago.
This could be a major disaster in the making, if things got violent.
But I think we all know that Madam mayor would never be held accountable for any such disaster. She is a good Democrat. She’s a good Democrat who has been outspoken against Trump. She would be secretly happy if somehow a mob were able to storm the White House or the Capitol building.
It would have been prudent to have all of those National Guardsmen still there just in case. Looks like Madam mayor does not believe in planning just in case for worst-case scenarios.
I suspect the worse rioting yet.

At least 6 busloads of soldiers were dropped off near the @WhiteHouse. No one would tell me anything (unit, numbers, orders) except that they are coming in not going out. A soldier started speaking to me and was reprimanded.

I hope Trump sends more troops to Washington. He should surround Congress as well, and the Supreme Court. The goal is to destroy the US Government’s ability to function, so Congress and the SC are targets. The idiotic mayor must be complicit in the desire to destroy the US.
They’re expecting a million. I think as much as anything they are hoping it starts a second virus wave to kill the recovery that is under way. Packing a million people into DC sure as hell should cause one ... unless they lied to us.
