Trump calls Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser ‘incompetent’ in Black Lives Matter feud

In a series of tweets, Trump ripped Bowser after the Democratic mayor painted “Black Lives Matter” in huge letters on the street leading to the White House earlier Friday and demanded the president withdraw the thousands of National Guard troops deployed to the nation’s capital.

“The incompetent Mayor of Washington, D.C., @MayorBowser, who’s budget is totally out of control and is constantly coming back to us for ‘handouts’, is now fighting with the National Guard, who saved her from great embarrassment over the last number of nights,” Trump tweeted.

“If she doesn’t treat these men and women well, then we’ll bring in a different group of men and women!” he continued.

In a huge political statement Friday morning, Bowser designated the square in front of Lafayette Park as Black Lives Matter Plaza and ordered city staffers and local artists to paint “Black Lives Matter” in enormous yellow letters on the street that leads to the White House.

“There was a dispute this week about whose street this is,” John Falcicchio, Bowser’s chief of staff, wrote in a tweet.

“Mayor Bowser wanted to make it abundantly clear that this is DC’s street and to honor demonstrators who [were] peacefully protesting on Monday evening,” he continued, referring to the protesters who were forcefully cleared by the National Guard from Lafayette Park.

But the move did not win Bowser the support of Washington’s Black Lives Matter chapter, which described it as a “performative distraction from real policy changes.”

2015:
Bowser is a strong advocate of gun control, characterizing herself in her Inaugural Speech in January 2015 as “a mayor who hates guns.”

Duh!!

Bowser is a racist. Need a Pittsburgh paint team to erase the word “Black” and paint the word “All.” The mayor will go ballistic and show to the world that she’s the racist. That’s how you take back the streets from the rioters.

“The national capitol needs to be moved to Wichita, Kansas.
The District of Columbia is not redeemable !”

Why should we cede historic American territory to a bunch of racists and weenie soi-boys? Better that we move the racists and soi-boys to Kansas. Let them eat cattle-feed corn.

I agree on not bringing in the active military. In this case, the national guard units he was calling up were federalized state NGs. There is no state guard for DC, it is a federal district.

I’ve seen the NG used in a city (Newark). Do you know whom their back up is if needed. In 67 I believe the active military had to be called up to quell the Detroit riot.

"demonstrators who were peacefully protesting on Monday evening"

REALITY:

"rioters who were destroying, stealing and burning on Monday evening"

About time the crypto-liberal shows up

I can remember when conservatives supported small government and individual liberty. Good times.

Defending the President of the US life with lethal military force is anti Conservative and anti small government

Defending the President's life is the job of the Secret Service, which they did admirably when they got Trump into a bunker. We have the National Guard to deal with riots. Sending the regular military folks, who are trained to be quicker to pull the trigger, is unnecessary and likely unconstitutional.

I voted for Trump because he promised us small government and a return to rule of law, rather than rule of one man.

There are supposed to be one million “protesters” in DC this weekend, hard to imagine all of them have pure intentions.

There are a few bad apples in every crowd, but if it is anything like the protest that marched past my parents' house on Thursday night the regular cops should be enough to deal with them. According to my parents, the protesters chanted their slogans but did nothing to harass the police flanking them. In true San Diegan fashion one guy was carrying a surfboard, not sure for what purpose. There was even a guy in a motorized wheelchair there. If not for the coronavirus my elderly parents would have felt safe marching with these people.

How unconstitutional is the commander in chief of
the US armed forces having his own troops defend him,
especially when the mayor of the surrounding town won’t do it

Only liberals have this kind of concern
