The kind of tough law enforcement officers you want coming to your side when you are bleeding have retired, been weeded out, or are in jail for posting a humorous tweet about 57 genders.
The culprits are the elected officials who hire the top law enforcement officers who don't like the laws enacted by legislators and who won't enforce laws they don't like.
The worst culprits of all are the voters who elect the officials above.

I’m not going to defend everything officers do. Not all
officers are doing that.
I don’t defend everything people from any group do.
Officers are humans just like anyone else.
Those officers on the street over the last five or six days
have put up with far more than I would have.
They in many times work for Leftist chiefs who deny them
any right to take the actions necessary to get this under
control. Their chiefs answer to people who don’t have
the slightest idea how to govern.

In some jurisdictions you can still “get away” with using reasonable force. But those jurisdictions are shrinking. And when the next Democrat president is elected, using force for any reason against members of a protected class will be a federal hate crime - or worse.
Right now there are cities and states where defending yourself with a firearm with a magazine capable of holding 10 rounds is a felony. And it is going to get worse.
I'm not advocating this foolishness; just giving an alarmed heads-up.

We now know how thin the line between civil society and anarchy is. Gun sales indicate that Americans are waking up to the fact that when SHTF we are on our own.
There are plenty of deep staters at all levels and branches of the federal government. The deep state is not just comprised of politicians and political appointees.
