They can certainly go for the gentrified neighborhoods though, and they probably will. They’ve always been angry about losing their urban blight.

You’ve got to give rioters a metaphorical whiff o’ the grape to get them to understand the game they’re playing and if a few must die they bring it to themselves. The French police seem to understand this better than US. You have to put THEM on their knees and make them kneel for an hour or be beaten. That’s how you dominate.

But really, shooting a few “pour l’encourager les autres” is “de rigeur” for any riot.
