Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden on Tuesday called on Congress to enact police reforms to address racial inequality and accused President Trump of using the military to crack down on demonstrators protesting the death of George Floyd in effort to appeal to his base of supporters.

“When peaceful protesters dispersed in order for a president..to use tear gas and flash grenades in order to stage a photo op – a photo op – at one of the most historic churches in the country… we can be forgiven for believing that the president is more interested in power than in principle, more interested in serving the passions of his base than the needs of the people in his care,” Biden said. “For that’s what the presidency is - a duty to care about all of us, not just our voters, not just our donors, but all of us.”
Trump ordered military personnel to clear the area around the White House on Monday night so that he could walk across the street to pose for a photo holding a Bible in front of the historic St. John’s church, which was set on fire by vandals over the weekend.

“The president held up the Bible at St. John’s church yesterday,” Biden said on Tuesday. “I just wished he’d open it once in a while instead of brandishing it. If he’d opened it he would have learned something. We’re all called to love one another as we love ourselves. It’s really hard work, but it’s the work of America.”

Just searched for and posted an explanation. Protesters were ordered by law enforcement to clear the way. They did not follow the orders of law enforcement. I am fine with that explanation.
Three lies in just one sentence ain't too bad I guess.
1. They were not peaceful demonstrators. They just set a church on fire.
2. No tear gas was used.
3. No flash grenades were used.
The Trump campaign just issued a statement on the fake tear gas malarkey.
It doesn’t matter if it was before 7pm. They were ordered to leave a crime scene and they refused. We cannot have our President enter an unsecured area, especially during a time of crisis such as this. Everything done was entirely appropriate regardless of what the media and idiots on FB/Twitter want to say.
Correct. I went looking for the answer and posted an article in defense of Trump. I asked about 7pm because of the curfew. I often take things literally. To me that meant open season on domestic terrorists. (Visualizing the Duck/Rabbit hunting season Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoon. Protester season, no terrorist season.)
Maybe that should be revised to there are lies, damn lies, and Biden lies.
I watched part of his speech. Obviously written for him and he must have been reading it from a teleprompter because his delivery was smooth. We shouldn't underestimate the ability of the media to package him to hide his weaknesses and present him as the sane voice to heal the nation.
Everything he said was slander, lies, half-truths, or platitudes. I gave up watching after a few minutes. He denounced "systemic racism." Why did the Obama administration do nothing in 8 years to improve things? Race relations are worse now than in 2008. What a loathsome individual--and he could become President.
Poor Biden. Feckless is too mild.
