A platoon sergeant I had was one of those soldiers with you in the Pentagon. He met one of the secretaries there and later married her. He was close to retirement when I met him at Ft. Hood and he said he was retiring there, that the DC area wasn’t the place he grew up in (born/raised in Fairfax) and had no desire to return.
You can't keep an eye on everyone, all the time. Besides, as a Platoon Leader, I wasn't about to tell a Platoon Sergeant how he needed to allocate his time. Good for him.
