This civil war has been going in for some time, at least two decades. It has just now finally gone hot.
Doesn’t it take two sides to fight a war?
I see one side fighting and the other doing nothing (and, no, President Trump, tweets don’t count).
Much of the early “fighting” in this war has been taking place on several fronts over the past few decades. Just to name a few:
*The classroom - where America’s history has been re-written and distorted
*The editorial board room - where nuancing the American story with a Leftist spin has been taking place
*The assault on the family, which has, for all intents and purposes been stripped of its “divine” design
*Along with the previous point, the absolutely horrific parenting/single-parenting/lack of parenting that has taken place (Is that your 20-something running around out there doing that? Would you own it, if it was? Would you admit it if it was? If one of them is yours, be ashamed—you raised ‘em wrong, if at all!)
*The shift to a “nomadic society” where neighbors and neighborhoods are temporary fixtures and not anchors to our sense of belonging (love my neighbor? - I don’t even know my neighbor!)
There are many other forces that have been at work in creating what we’ve seen the past few days, but these are just a few. Those young people out there, running around, burning things down, the occasional acts of pure savagery, the posing and posturing at scenes of destruction—those, folks, are not ones that share the typical Freeper’s sense of what it means to be American. They are not us. And this is why I fear that, if this goes on much longer, then yes, we are at a serious crossroads and we will be looking at an “us or them” scenario.
