I’ve a young great nephew who’s interest is piqued by this (the Tesla with astronaut in space was “Oh, yeah!”), as I was at his age by Gemini and Apollo. Yay! I’m feeding it; he’ll be getting some good models, and maybe an Arduino-based working replica of the LEM Nav Computer.

I guess you missed the last 50 years of launching of our fantastic unmanned spacecraft all over the solar system and beyond, where man can't even venture, not to mention all the discoveries and supplying us with enough scientific data for the next 30+ years.

Those are in the last 3 years but you're bah humbug because we're not flying the Enterprise into low Earth Orbit and flying back out without damaging anything.
If you have some genius ideas, call the President and tell him you know how to have the Shuttle working to dock with the space station and return safely without loss of life and craft. I'm sure NASA, Boeing, Space X et al would love your input on how to make things work the first time, without exhaustive testing and have it work perfectly every single time.
