Saw data that 44 suspects were rendered unconscious by Minneapolis cops over the last 5 years. Whether it was in the book or not, this was a tactic cops out there were using and in this case these particular cops got burned because they did it to a guy with medical problems and he tragically died on them. Obviously his health was a contributing factor. What really makes it look awful is no matter how they ended up in that position there was no reason to kneel on him for so long ignoring his pleas, even if just to be on the safe side. Of course they didn’t think they were killing him because you’d have to think they’re not stupid enough to do that while being filmed. I don’t. But I do think they were stupid enough to be callous and negligent. You can bet they made the mistake because a) suspects cry wolf all the time b) he looked like a big, relatively tough guy who was not obese c) this particular cop deals with this demographic all the time and is numb to caring when it comes to people like Floyd— aka a jaded at best, most would say outright racist attitude.d)they were just being plain lazy because it’s easier to sit on him then move him a round and take a chance hassling with him struggling more. Would that have played nicer and been more careful if it was a drunk white frat kid. Depends on how much of a dick the kid was but you can almost always say yeah. e) ALL OF THE ABOVE.
I’ll definitely go with (e) “all of the above.”
Thorough consideration of a thorughly f’d up event.
