I was at a meeting yesterday to reopen a thrift store rural south Texas. The board of nine people, all without masks, passed by majority vote that everyone in the store must wear a mask at all times. No sense of irony. Having voted against it, I then proposed that it a set termination date be put on the rule to expire in one week. I was told, “Mask wearing is the new normal, get used to it, it is not going away.” I thought to myself: it will never be enforceable and it will go away- it may take a blue state red state civil war- but it will go away. I’m not a surgeon in an operating room- I don’t wear a mask. Where do these people get their talking points? CNN?

Until last night I was separating the disasterous effects of the governors' lockdowns (although these petty tyrants continue to blame "the virus") into severe damage to our economy (business closures; massive layoffs, etc.) and severe harm to our society (anti-social distancing; dehumanizing and anti-social mask-wearing/identity-hiding). But it's clear to me that these effects are truly inseparable.

That is, many businesses cannot function effectively if we must walk about fearful of everyone else and in a state of depression and anxiety resulting from the irrational compulsions to hide our faces and to maintain a 12-foot diameter quarantine zone (a "portable safe space") around each of us. It's a disgusting fad that must not be tolerated (much less encouraged as is the wont of Democrat/Left governors and, of course, "The Experts") lest our economic/societal recovery slow to a crawl ... even slower in most places than is occurring yet today.

From a social interaction perspective, how much enjoyment is there in visiting an amusement park, attending a concert or sporting event, or hosting a barbeque or a party when the attendees appear to be sick and belong in an infirmary ... scared senseless to shake your hand let alone hug an old friend?

These anti-social practices are having nearly as severe an effect on the long-term viablility of many businesses as the continuing lockdowns have had over the past ten weeks. This sh!t -- these disgusting and despicable actions and demands to keep people apart -- has to be condemned in the strongest possible terms and it must come to an end, lest we be faced with some sort of twisted, soul-crushing nationwide version of a Halloween nightmare for the foreseeable future and beyond!
