Anger over the death of George Floyd spilled into the streets of Minneapolis for a second night Wednesday, as protesters lobbed rocks and bottles at police and gathered separately outside the homes of Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and the fired officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck.
Protests also took place in Duluth.
A large crowd gathered outside Minneapolis’ Third Precinct police headquarters, throwing objects at the building and officers. Police deployed rubber bullets, flash bombs and tear gas to push them back.
Fired police officer Derek Chauvin and three other officers who were at the scene of Floyd’s death Monday night were associated with the Third Precinct at 3000 Minnehaha Av.
At the nearby Lake Street Target store, looters were seen leaving with items ranging from large TVs to clothing to groceries. Looting also occurred at Minnehaha Lake Wine & Spirits, at Hiawatha and Lake. As of 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, no one had been arrested, said police spokesman John Elder.
Target spokesman Joshua Thomas released a statement saying the Lake Street Target will be closed until further notice. “We are heartbroken by the death of George Floyd and the pain it is causing our community,” he said. “We decided to close our Lake Street earlier today and worked to ensure all of our team members were accounted for and safe. Our focus will remain on our team members’ safety and helping our community heal.”
A smaller, less chaotic protest continued at Chicago Avenue and E. 38th Street, where Floyd died.

In today’s America, the people who have done nothing wrong have a LOT to be afraid of, especially from people who say “If you’re not doing anything wrong, you got nothing to be afraid of.”

Facebook has a live feed of the rioting. It looks like a mess. At this point, it looks more like personal destruction and rioting rather than confrontations with the police.

I don't think any individual "leader," or even political party(ies) can "deal" with this.
While this specific incident is pretty horrifying based only on the video we have seen, there are countless other incidents of black on black and black on white crimes (not to mention any other ethnic "combination") that go nearly completely unnoticed by society at large. It's only the statistically very rare white cop on black suspect that turns deadly that gets 100% media attention and many feel the need to go all in with a display of their disgust of a particular incident.
I'm beginning to wonder if a country, so very mixed, like the United States, can remain "united" with all the so very different cultural backgrounds and experiences.
I say this as someone who is in a "mixed" family, although, probably not the combination that immediately comes to mind.
