Remember the 1980s TV movie “Salvage” with Andy Griffith, about a guy trying to build his own rocket and how the government did everything to stop him?

Well, that was starring Sheriff Taylor. He could do anything, including dealing with such bozos as Barney Fife and the Pyle cousins!

Vaguely remember the show, but not the government interference.

Then there was the movie “The Astronaut Farmer”...

If I remember correctly, the name of Griffith’s show was Salvage I, and his rocket was made from junk parts.

There was a movie about a dozen years ago called The Astronaut Farmer, with Billy Bob Thornton. He plays a guy who was in the astronaut program, some stuff comes up and he's not able to follow his dream that way. So he begins building a Mercury-model rocket and capsule on his farm. Government does everything it can to shut him down but he goes through with it anyway.

I remember it being pretty inspirational. Also family friendly.
