Why should we? How many members of the main stream leftist media are "leaving politics out of it"? And I think a factual inquiry will show that the role of the WHO is largely political.
They took months to decide if the COVID-19 outbreak was a major world health risk, but took days to decide based on one retrospective paper that HCQ was a problem. Hmm. I wonder if that has anything to do with politics.
I would think most doctors treating critically ill patients are smart enough to know that some medications may have additional risks in that situation. So far the results of all of the medications tried have proven to be quite limited for severe cases of COVID-19. Some seem effective if begun early in the course of the disease, but even the Remdesivir results published so far were less than impressive for advanced, severe cases.
It will turn out to be a combination of treatments unless a magic bullet is found. remdesivir + convalescent plasma is the best we have now but some IL6 inhibitors look promising. The simple truth is there is no support in any study for the use of hydroxychloroquine in hospitalized patients and if Trump hadnt mentioned it most could accept that and move on. Unfortunately politics are now overshadowing medical research and thats a shame. I would love to see a cheap effective magic bullet as well but there just is one. life goes on
