While some countries that have been hit hard in recent months are scrambling out of the valley, new fireplaces are emerging in several other places.

The center of gravity of the pandemic has meanwhile moved from Europe and North America to countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In several countries, the virus is spreading exponentially.
For example, the number of deaths in Brazil has passed the 30,000 mark and 1,262 deaths were reported in one day on Tuesday, a sad record for the country.
More than half a million people have become infected in the meantime, which means Brazil only has to lead the United States.
