Last summer ‘masks were freedom’ and used by HKers to defeat facial recognition cameras in HK.
They worked well enough that the PLA/HK police passed an ‘anti mask law’.
HKers wore the masks ANYWAYS. And continued to do so all last fall and this winter and spring.
Oddly enough, HK hasn’t been ‘eaten up with CV’ in spite of PLA/CCP actively importing contagious cases for months back in Jan/Feb.

121 million heart disease

24 million COPD
6 million pregnant women
And let’s not forget the hospitalization risk group
34% of the population is over 50
And the sterilization risks
54 million men between the age of 20-50
And the healthcare workers, some 60k sick/300 deaths
And the nearly 1 million first responders.
And of course everyone is at risk for long term lung, kidney and heart issues.

I get the pushback against sweeping lockdowns and vaccines (especially when targeted closures, testing and contact tracing is shown to work, I,e, Singapore)...
I don’t get the pushback agains masks. It’s a simple harmless measure that works. It’s not really that hard to learn to don and doff properly. It’s not even that hard to walk away from people and take a breather. It is nothing to throw a mask on and run in a store. I wear a mask every day when DH and I do chores together. Even in 90 degrees working in the garden I haven’t had my O2 drop, (yes, I’ve checked). My son has asthma and has no problems (he wears one in the car with my husband). I’m not going to shame anyone in public for choosing not to wear one, but I still don’t understand it. What are they trying to prove?
Just because you can do something (my rights) doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do.
