STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Sweden, which has opted for a more open strategy in combating the virus than other European countries, has the highest number of deaths in Europe per capita from the COVID-19 disease over the last seven days, data showed.
Sweden has kept most schools, restaurant and businesses open during the pandemic. While deaths are on the decline Sweden had 6.25 deaths per million inhabitants per day in a rolling seven day average between May 12 and May 19, according to Ourworldinsata.org. That was the highest in Europe and just above the United Kingdom, which had 5.75 deaths per million.
Over the course of the pandemic Sweden still has fewer deaths per capita than the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Belgium and France, which have all opted for lockdowns, but much higher than Nordic neighbours Denmark, Norway and Finland.
Sweden’s strategy, mostly based on voluntary measures regarding social distancing and basic hygiene, has been criticised by some as a dangerous experiment with peoples lives but also been put forward as a future model by the WHO.

Cherry pick it any way you want... Sweden isn't destroying their economy and their death count is relatively low... The mainstream media is angry because when all is said and done, the doom and gloom and fear and loathing messages they've delivered will be exposed as fake and reactionary... And the destruction of the economy will be on their heads. A bunch of employed people telling everybody else in the world to accept losing their jobs for the sake of saving a few thousand lives.

It would appear Sweden is on the back side of things.
So Sweden has a spike for a week. The true measure is their numbers over 120 days.

By not locking down, the Nordic outlier has in effect ‘front-loaded’ its deaths and decreased those deaths later on.
And also, Sweden’s number are higher after the other European countries passed their peaks by many weeks, and therefore have a current low number.

While probably true it’s a meaningless fact designed to induce fear.
The only question being, are their hospitals overwhelmed? No. So the headline should be, “Sweden builds herd immunity faster than any other nation”. Which is what we all should be doing. Not only is all this unconstitutional, it isn’t even necessary.
When I first heard Sweden had only taken ‘light’ measures, which still included closing many schools & universities but allowed restaurants and bars to stay open, I started playing close attention.
Enough time has since passed. They’ve PROVEN the right practices. The best thing we can do is all become immune asap so the old and weak can return to normal.
THE MOST INSANE part - the ‘lists’ of do’s & don’ts from Governor’s. None of it based on ANY science being done. This is all madness now.
The story of Sweden cannot be written for another year, after every other country has had their 2nd and 3rd waves while the Swedes have achieved herd immunity.

They’re quibbling about 5 or 6 out of a MILLION, to push a narrative.
Suppose you could bet $6.25 for a million dollars in a lottery with 7 black balls where you would lose and 999,993 red balls where you would win the bet.

Sweden has 10 million people so that equates to 65 people a day. New York at 20 million people and total lockdown has 300 China Flu deaths per day. So what is the lesson here?

Italy was over 16 deaths/day at their peak and they will be finding dead 90 year olds in their apartments for years.
UK, etc. were also all over 15 deaths per million/day and the lockdowns mean will have to worry about the virus for a year... until they open up and their death rates goes back up to Sweden’s.
This was the media’s last shot at Sweden before they have to admit Sweden was right.
