The daily graveside visits served as a touchstone for the elderly Elkton, Md., couple – each day was another opportunity to express how deeply they loved Anthony and how heartbreakingly they missed him.
The couple would stand at the grave for 10 minutes or so. Sometimes they left fresh flowers; other times, they simply talked to their deceased son. “Hey, Anthony, Mom and Dad are here,” they would say.
Last week, however, that touching ritual turned tragic, when the Marinos were fatally shot just yards from Anthony’s grave in what appears to be a random act of violence.
Paul, 86, and Lidia, 85, were on the veterans cemetery grounds on the morning of May 8 to visit Anthony’s gravesite, as they had done perhaps 1,000 times before since their youngest son was laid to rest there in 2017.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. that day, a gunman randomly shot and killed the couple – sharply contrasting the tranquility of that cemetery.

Francis is suspected of gunning down an elderly Elkton couple Friday morning while the man, 86, and his wife, 85, were visiting Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Del. After a six-hour manhunt, police found Francis dead from a gunshot wound in a wooded area near the cemetery.

Yeah, right. It was open season for the killer.
This double-murder did not fit the proper narrative. The killer is a bit too "melanin-enriched" for the media to give this any national coverage. If the roles were reversed; it would be a national outrage, but white couple murdered by young black thug doesn't hit the right notes for the media.
Black privilege.
Did he know about the ahmaud arbery death and take matters into his own hands and go polar bear hunting for payback? Guess we’ll never know since he killed himself.
Terribly heartbreaking.
They were no doubt welcomed and embraced together by the son who they loved so much. In that way, there is some beauty.
Their story only gets more and more tragic. This seemed like a very solid family. The couple were there to attend the grave of their youngest son, Anthony, who died with cerebral palsy at age 54.
I have not seen any back story of the killer.
At first I thought, his (the murderer) family should step forward and express some modicum of sympathy for the slain couple’s family. Then I thought, this fellow was near 30 years old. When you are that far along in life, and deliberately commit murder of the innocent, that sin is on you, and not your family.
And the author wants to make sure you come away from this article with that firmly implanted in your mind.
Paul Jr. and Ray have so many questions about how and why their parents were gunned down, but, knowing that this was a random act of violence, they have resigned themselves to the fact that some answers will never come.
Imagine if the races were reversed in this assassination.

Has the story been run on any national TV program? I have never seen it, nor seen anybody talk about it being run anywhere including FAUX.
No one will discuss the statistics of black on white crime vs white on black crime because they are so one sided.
The guys in GA may or may not be convicted, but the media has run millions of words about two "redneck racissssss" MURDERING an innocent black man, who was just jogging.
Regardless of anyone's political belief's if they can't agree that the media coverage is out of wack by about 180 degrees, then we know the reason.
