Pres. Trump knows Xi lies to his face. In private, Xi agrees with Trump, gets along, etc.
Back in the real Chicom world, Xi continues to absolutely plot against us and screw us every chance the can, especially when it benefit Chicom policy.
Trump knows this, too.
I think the “Xi’s a great guy” talk is aimed at Xi showing him Trump knows what a backstabber he is.
I read Trump’s book, Art of the Deal. He wrote about almost the same thing working with another real estate tycoon.
Think what? Trump’s ultimate objective is to decouple. But first he has to buy time for that to happen. Navarro is the architect of that strategy. There are problems because the private sector is reluctant to disengage. They have huge investments there. And there are politicians on both sides of the aisle that balk at disengagement. Mitch and Diane have personally profited from China. So did Biden.
Trump is no fan of Xi or his “pal” in North Korea.
