What worries me about China is the silk road initiative. The chicoms are trying to rape pillage and plunder under the guise of helping countries that need help no matter who they are. They get countries indebted to them and when the time is right they lower the hammer for whatever resources the country may have. Chicoms are basically a huge criminal organization living off the capitalism of the country and fear of death the rest of the country has of them.

One way to divert attention away from domestic problems is to create an external threat. The Dems accuse Trump of that. The mullahs in Iran have been doing it for years.

Xi has no problem squashing dissent and the means to do it. Contrary to what Bloomberg thinks, the Chinese leadership is not accountable to the people.

The Chinese have been clever in using soft power. Their Belt and Road initiative (BRI) is ensnaring country after country. The PRC’s military is not pissing away blood and treasure on endless wars. They are stealing IP and forcing technology transfers as the price for access to their markets. Look how they coopted Hollywood, the NBA, and US colleges.

Occasionally, the world sees the real face of China like in Hong Kong, Tibet, or the Uyghurs.

You are at such a stratospheric level I fear you leave most of us in the dust trying to figure out your post.
Its too good.
If you could translate a bit it would bring a lot of us back to what is going on.

I saw this and it was not pretty. Azur was not prepared. He is a lawyer and an ex pharmaceutical lobbyist. Thought this alone should give him the gift of the gab. He is getting pilloried on Twitter for his comments re we are an unhealthy people.

Loved this tweet from Maggie. She is NOT happy. This will be the meme this week. POTUS only cares about the economy, not the people.
Maggie Haberman
@maggieNYT

The Sunday show roundup shows only Azar as health official sent on the shows. Fauci, who testified before the senate earlier this week and was requested by some networks, was not on, as he hasn’t been in weeks. Instead, focus from WH was on economy.

Thanks very much,as we see its possible to agonize over testing and wearing masks, being 6 feet apart and all the other silly rules that prevent herd immunity. In the end it’s all useless not only because it doesn’t work but more so it throws us off of the true problem: who is behind all this.!!

Exactly and more than enough reason to play it cool with China.

amazing how previous exposure to the common cold may now help with the covid problem, herd immunity at work i would guess.
..............
I read somewhere that,I think it was Paul Furber, that Iran was possibly exposed to a stronger version of covid 19 than many other countries. Seems their immune system worked overtime and that it became a problem. Anything to that or did I botch the entire explanation?

I am so glad someone else saw this.

He was so awkward it was embarrassing.

Jake Tapper, one of the WORST Sunday political talk show hosts, was honing in on him.

But I still think he had a point but it was buried deep. If given some thought it might have been more appropriately said.

I’m almost 70 years old. I have been healthy most of my life except in my mid-50’s when I needed a heart quadruple bypass.

I come from a very unhealthy family except for a few mid-years when life is lush and reproduction is upon.

Sister had horrible stroke at age 65. Dad died at 65, heart attacks since he was 40. Mother died at 73, lung cancer but she had been a heavy smoker.

Younger brother, early 50’s, has heart problems.

Now I have the benefit of American health care...Medicare that I paid for all my life and Cigna health. Besides my blood circulation problems, praise be, heart is good. I get check-ups and got some stents in me. Do not have diabetes.

I am heavy, at least I think I am.

But I’ve noticed, hey, maybe it’s just me, but all around me people seem to be way fatter....well way fatter than before that I remember.

I still weight what I did when I was 14 but hey, I was fat when I was 14.

But today.....please don’t say I mentioned it, but people seem so much heavier nowadays.

Azar did say the word “obesity” to describe a lot of Americans, right after diabetes.

I bet the increasing weight problems across the fruity plains is often discussed in those WH meetings.

Bear in mind, I am talking people I know are hitting 300+ pounds, to include my priest really. He checks in at 300 pounds and the archdiocese of Wilmington made him retire.

He thinks he was unfairly forced out (he is about my age) but damn, the man missed about a half a year of masses.

I wonder, doesn’t he look in the mirror? Does he think that all of health problems might in some way contribute to his health problems?

If you tell anyone I said this I shall deny. Cat stole my keyboard and typed it.

the belt and road initiative is a worldwide phenomenon now and seems to be working in some countries to the detriment of not only that country but the rest of the world.Only china benefits.

I meant ...don’t all of his health problems maybe come from his weight problem.

No doubt China’s tentacles are in deep all around the world. If their march to world hegemony continued, it would likely succeed eventually.

It’s now been slowed, stalled, or stopped. They’ve been shamed by many, and
resources won’t sustain. Will they be financially able to build a military, finance all the troubled countries with Belt & Road, and keep unrest at home to a manageable level.

What’s our collective guess re: China’s tact going forward ?

I got your point about Pritzker but sitting dems don’t often get primaries in illinois. Let’s put in on the calendar two years from now.

Gentlemen - A few comments regarding any Communist country - and Chine is a Communist country.

1. The majority of the population does not have an opportunity to improve their lives

2. Because of no. 1 - you end up with - They pretend to pay me and I pretend to work

3. For the majority of the population who are therefor unable to enjoy the fruits of their labor - they do not labor hard

4. This results in dams that fail, buildings that fall, and a military whose various parts fall apart rather quickly .

They do however have a shitload of bodies they can through into the front lines. Very much like the British in WW1

Trump is no fan of Xi or his “pal” in North Korea.

No disagreement there.

Fish......I have been reading some influenza studies which suggest glucose metabolism is a driving force underlying the development of the often deadly inflammatory response known as a “cytokine storm”. The studies may partly explain why patients with diabetes are at an increased risk of serious complications and death from influenza and other infections. Preliminary data indicate this appears to be the case for COVID-19 as well.

I think a primary challenge against this guy is likely because he really screwed up. The optics are as bad as Chris Christie and the George Washington bridge.

Two points:

Chinese communism decided to use extreme crony capitalism to become the number one manufacturer in the world. Currently, the myth they’re living under is everyone gets a job making some gee-ga to sell on the world market. That is going to change soon.

Massive armies swarming a front are as long gone as Napoleon’s troops versus Wellington’s standing shoulder to shoulder firing musket vollies from 50 yards away. In the electronic/robotic world of combat, we call those formations targets.
