The United States could restore some funding to the World Health Organization under a plan that would cap contributions at whatever amount China gives, President Donald Trump said Saturday.
Funding is still frozen for now, the president clarified.
“This is just one of numerous concepts being considered under which we would pay 10 percent of what we have been paying over many years, matching much lower China payments. Have not made final decision,” Trump said.
U.S. contributions to the WHO last year exceeded $400 million, according to the State Department. According to the WHO, the United States provides nearly 15 percent of its funding. China gave about $40 million last year.

Trump is a good man surrounded by deep state dirtbags. Whoever gave this advice doesn’t belong in the same state as the POTUS.
And yet with all that funding, the WHO hasn’t put out a new album for years.
OTOH, treasonous organizations should be treated like treasonous individuals...to the full extent of the law.
Before we give the WHO (not the band) one penny, they must formally recognize Hong Kong.

I think you guys are over reacting. He wants everyone to keep hearing how little China pays compared to us and he wants Americans to demand we not give them money anymore. He’ll keep this going until the election.
We should give exactly the same amount as TAIWAN.
As satisfying as it would be to just fully defund the WHO, this is better politics.
China wants to stand shoulder to shoulder with the US on the world stage.

Knowing, full well, that they can’t and won’t. They care about “face” as well as economic power, and the president just smacked them where it will hurt the most.

This has to be the stupidest way to decide funding levels - ever.
If it's in our interest to fund the WHO, do it. If not, don't.
