Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin was mocked on Thursday for repeating her claim that the "walls are closing in" on President Trump.
Rubin, an MSNBC contributor who describes herself as a "conservative opinion writer," has become a celebrity among liberal circles in recent years for expressing her disdain for the sitting Republican president. In her latest column, she celebrated the decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals in the 4th Circuit to revive an emoluments lawsuit against the Trump Organization for allowing foreign governments to conduct business with Trump's hotels.
"The walls are closing in on Trump’s lawless presidency. The only question is whether the voters will remove him before he is forced to unveil his finances, which he has strenuously attempted to conceal from voters," Rubin wrote. "One can only imagine what secrets are so damaging that Trump is compelled to litigate up and down the federal courts."

You know, if I had to pick between a hardcore dyed in the wool leftist and a “Never Trump” fake conservative, I think I’d pick the former. They’re less dishonest. The latter group are among the most insufferable, disingenuous, treacherous people I’ve ever discovered. Jen Rubin is a great exemplar of that. Everything she writes is guided by a single principle: her deranged, maniacal hatred of Donald Trump. She openly contradicts her own past positions and attacks literally everything Trump says and does. Trump says up, Jen Rubin says down. He says black, she says white. And there are several others who are pretty much the same: Rick Wilson, Bill Kristol, Max Boot, David French, Jonah Goldberg and George Conway. Ten, fifteen, twenty, thirty years ago, none of them had any use or respect for a liberal hack like Joe Biden. Now, they sing his praises as some kind of “decent,” “dignified” “statesman.” Biden was never any of those things in his best day, and now that he’s a dementia-addled old coot who doesn’t even know where’s at, their case for him is even more unpersuasive. As the saying goes, don’t pee on my leg and try to tell me it’s raining. It’s truly a sort of insanity. “Trump Derangement Syndrome” indeed.
