NYC health head rejected NYPD mask plea: ‘I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops’

New York City’s health commissioner blew off an urgent NYPD request for 500,000 surgical masks as the coronavirus crisis mounted — telling a high-ranking police official that “I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops,” The Post has learned. Dr. Oxiris Barbot made the heartless remark during a brief phone conversation in late March with NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan, sources familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
Monahan asked Barbot for 500,000 masks but she said she could only provide 50,000, the sources said. “I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops,” Barbot said, according to sources. “I need them for others.” The conversation took place as increasing numbers of cops were calling out sick with symptoms of COVID-19 but before the department suffered its first casualties from the deadly respiratory disease, sources said.
Although surgical masks don’t necessarily prevent wearers from being infected with the coronavirus, they can prevent people from spreading it to others. see also NYPD detective becomes first officer to die from coronavirus

The NYPD has recorded 5,490 cases of coronavirus among its 55,000 cops and civilian workers, with 41 deaths, according to figures released Wednesday evening.

Patrick Lynch, president of the Police Benevolent Association, called for Barbot to be fired over her “despicable and unforgivable” comments.

“Dr. Barbot should be forced to look in the eye of every police family who lost a hero to this virus. Look them in the eye and tell them they aren’t worth a rat’s ass,” Lynch fumed.

In the wake of Barbot’s crass rebuff of Monahan, NYPD officials learned that the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene had a large stash of masks, ventilators and other equipment stored in a New Jersey warehouse, sources said.

FTA: "Last week, Barbot — who’s been a routine participant in de Blasio’s daily coronavirus briefings — was noticeably absent when Blasio announced that the city’s public hospital system would oversee a major testing and tracing program, even though the DOH has previously run similar programs."
At least this bitch is honest about the anti-police sentiments of Warren Wilhelm's diBLAHSio's administration.

Whadda ya know! An honest Democrat!

Now, let's see what happens when the cupid stunt is beaten to death... Will the Mayor demand a citywide investigation?

“NYC health head rejected NYPD mask plea: ‘I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops’”

I wonder how she would feel if someone was breaking into her place and she found out that after calling the police, they are not obligated to drop whatever they are doing and rush to her aid.

0.75% mortality which is a bit over 5 times more than flu.

Democrat politicians hate LEOs because many of them believe first and for most in the constitution and they honor their oath of office. Those kinds of cops are the communist democrats enemy as clearly demonstrated by this Barbot democrat puke. The cop in WA state who tried to get his LEO colleagues to abide by the Constitution was relieved of duty and is going to lose his job. Democrat politicians who are owned by Soros are ruining our liberty and stealing our freedom. I surmise this current struggle we are in will get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

In all fairness they didn’t care about the old people in nursing homes either. Makes you wonder who they are trying to protect, if any.

Masks - paper and fabric, including those urged to be reserved for medical personnel, provide, at best, minimal protection to the wearer. But masks have the potential to protect people near you from being exposed to material that you would have spread through your own mouth or nose.

So we can see of whom we speak;

From Wikipedia; "Barbot was born at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan in New York City, and refers to herself as a "Nuyorican," a term of pride used by New Yorkers who have deep Puerto Rican roots.

Barbot is the Commissioner of Health of the City of New York, a position she was appointed to in December 2018 by Mayor Bill de Blasio, succeeding Mary T. Bassett. She is the first Latina and first Puerto Rican to head the Health Department.

While I agree COVID is significantly worse than the flu, the mortality rate is not that high (0.75%). The NYPD hasn’t tested all 55,000 employees.

Statistically improper comparison.

You need the death rate of police officers and civilian police workers from the flu.

This one is going to have a rude awakening sometimes down the road. I can hear her 911 call for help now:

Hello 911 Emergency

Help, I am Barbot, NYC commissioner of health and need assistance quickly as someone is breaking into my apartment.

911: can you describe the assailant, does he look like a rats ass?

Barbot: What? No of course not.

911: we will have a unit out as quickly as we can round up a mask or two just in case someone has CCP virus.

Barbot: I need help now.

911: Well, they need masks now too and those in hell want ice water so I guess you will have to wait your turn.

Probably true. The flu is going to be worse among that group.

******
That’s not as scary as it looks because it involves only a “recorded” case total. FR has had numerous posts about symptomless cases and cases that had symptoms but were not reported. For some fearful Freepers, these posts go in one ear and out the other.
