Malala Yousafzai initially became famous for her childhood activism against the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistans (TTPs) restrictions on education for girls. She appeared on television and wrote a blog for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Her fame soared after a gunman shot her in the head in 2012, when she was 15 years old, and she survived.
So basically, she was a Muslim girl who wanted to be able to go to school. A Muslim man tried to kill her for that. She survived and got famous.
I guess one has to ask why we have to bring in someone from Pakistan to inspire American high school graduates?
