New discoveries shift coronavirus timeline by months

The coronavirus that has exploded into a pandemic has almost certainly been circulating for several months longer than public health experts first suspected, masked by asymptomatic cases or illnesses incorrectly diagnosed.

Scientists believe the first known case of a patient contracting the coronavirus happened in mid-November, in a 55-year-old resident of China's Hubei province. That was six weeks before the World Health Organization's (WHO) surveillance network picked up reports of a cluster of atypical pneumonia cases in Wuhan, the province's largest city.

There are increasing signs that the virus had begun its global spread long before it was identified. French scientists on Monday published the results of a study that found coronavirus present in samples given by a resident of a Paris suburb who was tested Dec. 27, four days before the Wuhan cluster was identified.

The French patient, a 42-year-old fishmonger, had not traveled outside of the country since visiting his native Algeria in August, a potential sign that the virus came to France in someone else even earlier. One of the man's children had symptoms of a flu-like illness, raising the prospect that the child infected the father — and further back-dating the point at which the virus had spread to Europe.

The coronavirus also likely landed in the United States earlier than the first known American case, a man north of Seattle who traveled home from Wuhan in mid-January.

Such back-dating is not uncommon when scientists are racing to identify the spread of a disease, experts said.

After months of claiming Trump knew in November, only now are people examining the evidence of when and and how this 'global crisis' began.

Won’t matter. It’ll still be Trump’s fault.

My wife had something horrible in November. I was out of town until late November when she had recovered, but our kids say they’ve never seen Mom as sick as that. Not even close.

Why credit the WHO with the discovery when it was the dead doctor who was censored and harassed by the Chi-Coms who was among those who recognized something was different?

Chinese propaganda. There is no one in the West that could possible know such a thing so it has to be coming from China.

I’m quite convince my wife and I had this bug in early January along with a goodly amount of people I work with.

She wound up with pneumonia and I had bronchitis. Both had the exact symptoms that COVID 19. Bug lasted four week

I knew that 45 days ago and I’m not an “expert” . . . just kept my eyes open. We really have a bunch of less than impressive “experts”, with witch doctor Fauci at the top of the list

My son had a bad case in Dec/Jan. Felt like hell but kept on working. I had something that I couldn’t shake all of January. Like a bad cold.

The problem with experts like Fauci is that they become impervious to common sense observation.

Like the fact that clinical trials or not, HCQ was clearly having some effect in treating this virus.

If it had been Fauci and not Edward Jenner back in 18th. century England we’d likely still not have an immunization for smallpox.

Yup. Guess we think now that we had a mild dose of it. Dry cough and general malaise for a few weeks early part of the year. Not like a “normal” cold and not as bad as some flu bugs we’ve had(which is rare). Praise the Lord and pass the hydroxychloriquine. :-)

I had a slight fever and fatigue in the third week of January, with a nagging cough that lasted about a month. I have to wonder...

My SO had the symptoms in January. Dry cough. Fever/sweats a couple of nights. Low energy. Stayed home from work for a week or so.

I thought I was going to be lucky and miss it. But about 10 days after SO’s recovery I started with the same symptoms, so late January.

Dry cough and nothing coming up. Finally after maybe a week phlegm started to break loose and lungs finally began to clear out over time. Also the fever.

I have strong suspicions about November myself.

A clerk in a country store I shop at was out for several weeks in the same time frame with symptoms that are a match for the Wuhan Flu. Western Oregon.

What I want to know is why Trump fell for locking down the country over the flu?
I want the names of those that told him to do so.

Since we have many on here that have had SOME sort of respiratory disease I’m wondering if I could get some comments on getting a pneumonia shot?

I usually get some sort of bronchial crud once a year (but not this year - strange) and have thought about getting one.
