Our church has a book for visitors to sign in, if they want. Some do, most do not.

Who the heck puts their name in a book or signs a register before attending church?

If it's anything like mine, most folks to register attendance in some way. We have cards that are handed out with the order of service, that many folks put in the offering plate because they have their tithe set up as an autodraft.
