I first served in 1956, US Army out in 1960. Too young for Korea. I got out and worked a while Joined Navy in 63 and only did the battle of Olongapo several times no ground combat. Was happy to do it and was happy to get out. Was at Sea in Tonkin Gulf when Kennedy was assassinated.
I have a younger brother who served in the army in Vietnam and was also wounded and another brother who served in the navy aboard ship.
I know that you disagree with me - but it's your right, you've earned it.

Unusual note about that Gulf.... George S. Morrison who was the Doors' Jim Morrison's father was commander of the U.S. naval forces in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Gulf of Tonkin Incident of August 1964, which sparked an escalation of American involvement in the Vietnam War. ---Excerpted from Wikipedia article.
I often wonder how his father felt as he must have heard others say about the Jim Morrison arrests and drunkenness "Hey, that's your son, isn't it?"
