Clearly, some of this is from people avoiding going to an ED - for fear of Covid, but there are likely other factors as well. Elective cardiovascular procedures have been scaled back dramatically, in an effort to keep people out of the hospital (they are being medically managed as outpatients) - and this contributes somewhat. This doesn't explain, however, why people aren't presenting with acute syndromes (i.e. myocardial infarction and stroke).
You get less visitation rights in a hospital than in prison.
I know if I thought I was going to die, the last place I would present myself would be to a hospital.
