The government is spending like drunken sailors anyway, why not just buy up the surplus and have it delivered to food banks and homeless shelters around the country.

“”Then clean up your filthy plants, losers.””

I never buy Tyson chicken....We seldom buy beef or pork and can live on tuna and canned salmon, I guess.

Truthfully, I don’t understand not being able to sell the cows/chickens/pigs....People are still eating so why aren’t the processors buying?

I wasn’t disagreeing with the numbers you posted but as I pointed out Tyson moves many more loads through contractors than they do with their own trucks.

When the so called “lock down” went into effect he saw a major increase in the loads he was moving. That went on for a couple of weeks and then leveled off. However as of last week they told him to expect to be down by about 30-40 percent. He was getting 2800-3500 miles per week. He is expecting to drop to 1900-2500.

Tyson sells as much to other manufacturers of food products and restaurants as they do to grocery stores.

My friend has been home for a break since last week. He is heading out tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what will transpire.

Thanks. Appreciate the field reports.

Did they tell him why to expect to be down 30-40%? Because of their plant shut down?

Keep me posted, if/when you hear more, after he goes back out on the road....and, thank him for keeping goods moving.

Gonna be a lot of fishing going on, I reckon.

Next shortage: fishing poles and night crawlers.

“Good Idea. Set up wet markets in the cities.”

Lol - what could possibly go wrong? Not to mention that training, establishing supply lines, and obtaining/maintaining facilities/space for this undertaking would be a snap under these circumstances.

CNN must have been ecstatic to be able to report bad news to the American people.

It’s what the crappy commies live for - - as for Tyson? Americans have long memories - if Tyson’s intentionally trying to crash things - he’ll lose the company... Anyone got a link to the original ad?

Tyson, the chairman, wrote in Sunday's advertisement that the company has taken steps to protect its workers, including taking their temperatures and requiring face masks in all of its facilities. He added that the company is paying out bonuses to frontline workers and truckers, as well as donating food in local communities.

Tyson needs help keeping things open... maybe Trump should step in and see if he can help...

Just send the surplus to government distribution centers - making sure everyone stands 6 feet apart on line and eyes each other suspiciously. /s

traditionally, famine follows the plague throughout history. I would not equate the Wuhan with the plague, but it is a pandemic. So, while we will NOT see famine, we will and are seeing shortages.

This is not some sort of vast left wing conspiracy against Trump, nor the Clinton Cabal using Tyson Foods to bend the will of the American People.

Sometimes, crap just happens. It just is what it is. It sucks and I hope we can pull the nation out of the coming depressionary spiral. But my parents and Granparents went through it, I suppose it is time the nation goes through it again. Didn’t it happen in the early 1870s?

I used to hunt. I shot grey squirrels, rabbits, pheasant. I even killed a squirrel once with a bow and arrow. I skinned it and ate it. Not a lot of meat on a squirrel.

I never killed a deer or any big game. Shot at a couple and missed. Got buck fever once and missed a perfect opportunity at a 8 pointer. Darn buck was 40 feet away. I waited too long to shoot. These were all in my teenage years. I have been around when guys butchered deer though.

Personally, I was never a big fan of Venison. I have had moose and Elk, which I thought were pretty good.
Frankly, I have never been able to go hunting for Rack of Lamb, so I have lost my interest in hunting.

As far as fishing goes. I have never liked trout. Which is the only fish in the streams around here. Now, give me an Alaskan Halibut and were talking. Actually, Striped Bass is also very good. They do not make their way up here(NH) until about June. Also, you really need a boat to catch them. They are hard to catch from shore except in the Merrimack River about a mile up from the ocean.

Do we assume he hasn’t? We know he’s working 12-14 hr days/no lunch break often/on the phone with everyone and anyone/takes all calls.

Sounds like Tyson is doing things right.

I’ve cooked and eaten just about everything. Liked most of it. Squirrel was just ok, after low and slow crock pot and a BBQ sauce. Chewy, still.

I love trout and all the panfish, too. The white meat ocean fish are good, though. Hubby said today people need to start with cleaning fish. He’s not a hunter, but friends are and we help process for a share. DH is a knife aficionado ; very skilled with a stone and (if needed) a grinder. He’s an experienced metalsmith.

I did terrible with butchering chickens and all I had to do was pluck and pick. Still smelled pinfeathers when I thought I’d done ok. I hate cleaning coops, too. Don’t like live chickens, much.

This is all now a DELIBERATE attempt to crash the United States economy. Open up NOW.

It's just truly amazing how people just comment and form strong opinions about things they don't to even learn the basic facts about. Did you even read the article you posted? The plants were not closed as part of social distancing policies - it is because the employees got ill and their operations were crippled.

One comment after another making the same non-existent point.

Why does reality have zero impact on the opinions and comments of so many so consistently?

Just like the Left - no amount of reality or facts fazes what you all say on this subject.
