My youngest son graduated with dual majors in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. An easy decision for him as there is some overlap in the curriculum.
Graduated from a well-known school with a very good GPA.
He has applied for many jobs all across the country and has had exactly ZERO interviews nevermind job offers.

"He has applied for many jobs all across the country and has had exactly ZERO interviews nevermind job offers."

Our son has a science degree from an excellent state university. He applied online for many many jobs, and never heard back. When he tried to contact people, they directed him to the online application process. He did this for months before finally allowing a family member to put in a good word for him at her place of employment. Result - full time job with benefits. He didn't want to use connections because he thought it was unfair. It's tough getting started, especially if you're not in a 'disadvantaged group'.

“My youngest son graduated with dual majors in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. “

In IT young, ambitious engineering graduates are a dime a dozen.

He has to develop a skill.

Every Cisco CCIE in the world that wants to work, is working. All of them. And making $100+ per hour in the US.

That does not require a degree at all.

But you can purchase coders for $20/hr.

As for the Electrical Engineering degree, much circuit board design and chip design is done by computers.

If he’s open to living anywhere, what about the placement service at the University, have they not been able to find jobs for any of their graduates in his field?

I have a similar background and had to move furniture for 3 months, at the destination city where I wanted to live, before I found a job that actually matched my degree.

Your son should get a Google Voice line for his resume. The line is free & will help filter calls from bottom-feeding Desi staffing firms.

As someone suggested here, your son may want to post his resume as a graphic image. Makes it harder for Desi recruiters to steal the resume & stick an potential H1B’s name on it.

US staffing firms will be of little help in finding employment.

As an experiment, you son should repost his resume on the job boards, but change his last name to “Reddy.” See what happens.

You can have a look at the startup layoff list here -> https://layoffs.fyi/tracker

Over 30,000 jobs gone. With more layoff information added daily.

Your son and his engineering friends should try and come up with their own product. Tech hiring for the remainder of 2020 is done.
