'Paid for the damn virus that’s killing us': Giuliani rips Fauci over grants to Wuhan laboratory

Rudy Giuliani questioned Dr. Anthony Fauci's involvement in grants from the United States to a laboratory in Wuhan, China, that has been tied to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a report, the U.S. Intelligence Community has growing confidence that the current coronavirus strain may have accidentally escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology rather than from a wildlife market, as the Chinese Communist Party first claimed. During a Sunday interview on The Cats Roundtable, Giuliani questioned why the U.S. gave money to the lab.

"Back in 2014, the Obama administration prohibited the U.S. from giving money to any laboratory, including in the U.S., that was fooling around with these viruses. Prohibited! Despite that, Dr. Fauci gave $3.7 million to the Wuhan laboratory — even after the State Department issued reports about how unsafe that laboratory was, and how suspicious they were in the way they were developing a virus that could be transmitted to humans," he claimed.

He added, "We never pulled that money. Something here is going on, John. I don’t want to make any accusations. But there was more knowledge about what was going on in China with our scientific people than they disclosed to us when this first came out. Just think of it: If this laboratory turns out to be the place where the virus came from, then we paid for it. We paid for the damn virus that’s killing us.”

Giuliani placed the blame on Fauci, who has been the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, it is not clear what oversight he had in the funding decisions. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases did award $3.7 million in grants to EcoHealth Alliance to study the “risk of future coronavirus

LEFTY SITES GOING CRAZY -TRYING TO RIDICULE...

https://www.inquisitr.com/6019851/rudy-giuliani-calls-out-president-in-2017/

Rudy Giuliani took to Twitter to attack the U.S. president for giving $3.7 million to the Wuhan Laboratory in China in 2017 — not realizing that it was close ally Donald Trump in office at the time.

The former New York City mayor turned top surrogate for President Trump tweeted a message about the funding, which came through the National Institutes of Health. The lab has been the center of controversy and conspiracy theories after the coronavirus outbreak traced back to the Chinese city.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BUT!
This is how Snopes debunks Rudy’s ‘bizarre conspiracy theory’.
“However, not all of that $3.7 million went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and not all of the funding took place under the Obama administration,” reported Snopes.
“Approximately $700,000 of the $3.7 million total was approved under Donald Trump.”
(No mention of this tidbit)
Such grants were prohibited in 2014.
60 Minutes ran their lead segment tonight stating as fact that the CCP virus came from animal to human transmission at the wet market. Screaming at the TV...
Then ran gushing piece featuring the brilliance of Gavin Newsome.
Never watching that sh!t again. As bad as Wallace on FNS.
Approved by who? Fauci?
I hope so. That little rat and his BS charts turned the economy into a landfill. 26 million jobs and counting and if the little scumbag had his way there would have been a national lockdown with no end date.
Obama gave infamous Wuhan lab millions in taxpayer money. Trump has vowed to end further grants. APRIL 20, 2020
‘2015? Who was president then? I wonder’
President Donald Trump vowed last week to stop giving taxpayer funds to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the place where American intelligence indicates the coronavirus outbreak may have originated.
The Obama administration granted the Wuhan laboratory $3.7 million for research in 2015 via the National Institutes of Health, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) revealed last week.
Gaetz told Fox News host Tucker Carlson:
“I’m against funding Chinese research in our country, but I’m sure against funding it in China. The NIH gives a $3.7 million grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology [and] they then advertise that they need coronavirus researchers and following that, coronavirus erupts in Wuhan.
What’s really troubling to me is either conspicuously or miraculously the Wuhan Institute of Virology is able to sequence the virus on January 2 but China doesn’t admit to the virus existing until January 9 and then the Wuhan Institute of Virology doesn’t release this important scientific information to the world until January 12.
So at best, Americans are funding people who are lying to us and at worst, we’re funding people who we knew had problems handling pathogens, who then birthed a monster virus onto the world.”
The grant was meant for the studying of bats that carry the viruses that have triggered the present pandemic as well as the SARS outbreak nearly two decades ago, according to the Daily Mail.
Any further funding will immediately end, Trump declared on Friday.
On Friday, a reporter asked the president, “U.S. intelligence is saying this week that the coronavirus likely came from a level 4 lab in Wuhan. There’s also another report that the NIH, under the Obama administration, in 2015 gave that lab $3.7 million in a grant. Why would the U.S. give a grant like that to China?”
Trump responded, “The Obama administration gave them a grant of $3.7 million? I’ve been hearing about that. And we’ve instructed that if any grants are going to that area — we’re looking at it, literally, about an hour ago, and also early in the morning. We will end that grant very quickly.
“But it was granted quite a while ago. They were granted a substantial amount of money,” he continued. “We’re going to look at it and take a look. But I understand it was a number of years ago, right?”
When Trump asked the reporter to again state when the Obama administration gave the Wuhan lab the taxpayer-funded grant, Trump quipped, “2015? Who was president then? I wonder.”
Whatever funding went to Chinese Labs over the last three years happened on Trump’s watch. Fauci works for Trump and the NIH is Trump’s NIH.
I don’t think Guiliani and Trump want to go there.
Trump doesn’t run the NIH. Fauci works for it. It’s the NIH’s responsibility if it provided an unauthorized grant to the Wuhan lab. As NIH’s NIAID Director Fauci had to be aware of the research grant. He’s the guy that funded the infection.
