I’m sorry, but the founders never intended to interpret taking your clothes off for entertainment as a First Amendment right.

Nor did they intend to let vast corporate propagandists have first amendment rights.

“What gets me is, if you’ve been to one strip club, you’ve been to them all.”

That’s the truth. It’s just a form of foreplay that leads to...nothing.

Recommend that since the laws have been changed from 18 to 21 for all kinds of things, the same should be done for voting. If you are not responsible enough to have a beer at 18, you surely are not responsible enough to vote. They might back down then.

I don’t see how this passes muster. There’s no reason why an adult should not be able to do a job unless it can be shown that they need more physical maturation to do the job safely. The NFL can make a sound argument because football is a violent sport and there is some physical maturation that takes place between 18 and 21. Dancing though?

I also don’t understand how booze and some gun sales can be banned for some legal adults as it currently is. Either someone is an adult at 18 or they are not. Telling them they are but that they’re 2nd class citizens for certain rights shouldn’t pass constitutional muster.

I refused to register for selective service until my 21st birthday. Had they admitted I was old enough to handle a beer 3 years earlier, I’d have admitted I was old enough to handle a rifle but since they didn’t, I didn’t.

You remind me of a odd story that happened several decades ago. In 1983 I received a letter telling me that I failed to sign up for Selected Service. I thought that it was odd since I had joined the army in 1978, went active in 1979, Carter enacted it in 1980 and I got out in 1983. I filled out the card and included a letter that said basically that I didn’t think I had to sign up for the draft due to already being in the army when Selective Service registration was enacted. I never heard from them again. There may be a note in my permanent record that documents my anti-social behavior.

My point is that if 18 year olds are adults, they should be treated as a adults. If they are not adults, they should be treated as such. Either they are adults, with all of the privileges and responsibilities that comes with it or not. It can’t be other ways and still make sense.

As for the drinking age, when I was 18, it was legal. My cousin went through the time of change. When it went from 18 to 19 he had about 6 months where he was legal to drink. Then they changed it to 21 and he was not legal to drink. In what irrational world does that make sense?

As for stripping, that’s a really shady occupation for anyone of any age. Adults make choices and choices have consequences. When you are young and cute, you can make a lot of money there. When you age and lose your looks, you are left with nothing. Best to never get involved in that business.

***if you’ve been to one strip club, you’ve been to them all.***

Say WHAT? OH WAIT, first AND LAST ones I was in was way back in 1968 Koza City, Okinawa. Never been to one since.

Reminds me of what happened to a friend of mine. He and a neighbor were driving in Tulsa OK and passed a club called THE SNAKE PIT.
The looked at it and said “NOTHING would ever get them in such a place like that!”

The neighbor’s brother was visiting and disappeared that evening. Being a known bar hopper, they then canvased the area and ended trying to drag the brother out of THE SNAKE PIT.

Near St. Albans. Along the river. Just out of town. West of Charleston. Long line of clubs and joints.

Is this that “strip” on the road (US60 - MacCorkle Avenue) from South Charleston to Charleston?

If it is, I always heard it called “MacCorkle Boomtown”.
Never heard it called the Badlands!

I enlisted in the Navy right out of high school at 17. I received the same kind of notice well after my discharge, and just did what they asked.

“18 should be the universal adult age for everything.”

21 (or higher) should be the voting age. 18 is ok for everything else.
