I saw nothing there that made me think anything was being accomplished by the masks. They're worn for sneezing and coughing. The masks do not protect you.
They keep you from spreading it as much.
They keep the viral load indoors, in places like the PO, lower.
Initial viral load is probably one of the big reason NYC’s numbers are as bad as they are compared with SoCal. Socal exposures are standing next to someone in the checkout aisle for 5 minutes. In NYC they’re sitting next to someone for 30 minutes on the metro north train in to GCS.
I have to wonder who Rush is planning to vote for in November.

I was under the impression that the lockdown was to “flatten the curve” to avoid stressing out hospital capacities. Hasn’t that been accomplished? This is a bait and switch scheme. Now we we have to wait for our Governors to test, test, test! All we’re doing is prolonging the inevitable. We’re gonna die. I went into this thing as a happy social distancer. Now I’m mad!

This is what we know from hindsight.
Now, consider that, at the end of January, President Trump was already informed that the Chinese had isolated Wuhan from other Chinese cities, but was continuing international flights. That should have raised a high degree of concern. Clearly, the Chinese were actively exporting this thing to the rest of the world. Nobody knew the nature of the virus they were foisting on us. Thus, the early, high, but erroneous, projections were accepted.
Under those circumstance, what would you have done?
And yet the subways are still running?

Rush is doing a great job undermining Trump.

FWIW, China still isn’t really ‘open for business’.
The ‘get back to work’ strategy there involves multiple temperature checks and PPE for employees. So clearly they’re thinking it isn’t the common cold or regular old flu still.

The US can go back to work, with the right PPE. We can even put people to work making our own PPE, medicines, increased home deliveries, .... Falsely misrepresenting the danger the coronavirus is, and was, is only going to cause many more to die from falling into a sense of false security. 2,000 died today alone.

I think he is trying to save Trump. Trump was duped by Fauci and Birx with bogus data, which was used to destroy the economy. Need to get on top of the messaging now to instill confidence in the consumer that this overreaction was all unnecessary. That will speed up normal consumer behavior the fastest. Otherwise people will not travel, go to public spaces etc. - only if they can be shown how stupid the whole thing was.
