The Latest: Evers releases plan for reopening Wisconsin
Associated Press ^ | April 20, 2020 | Staff

There will have to be a decrease in positive coronavirus cases over 14 days before Wisconsin can start a phased reopening of nonessential businesses, Gov. Tony Evers said on Monday when releasing new criteria for when the state will begin to reopen.

The release of the plan comes amid growing criticism from businesses and Republicans about Evers’ order issued last week keeping most nonessential businesses closed until May 26.

Evers said the Wisconsin plan was informed by federal guidelines that were released by the White House last week. Wisconsin does not meet that federal criteria for reopening, but Evers said the state plan takes steps to get there.

He said the goal of the plan is to decrease the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths to make a phased reopening of businesses possible. The state will work to increase the amount of personal protective equipment available, grow contact tracing, and expand testing and expand lab capacity under the plan. The goal is to have 85,000 tests per week, with an average of 12,000 tests per day.

There will have to be a decrease in positive coronavirus cases over 14 days ...

Think about this... it'll be what is used to delay openings. Remember how unreliable the reporting is? How else will they find ways have an uptick, just to start the count over?

The Dems will pin the blame on the trashed economy on Trump in November. None of the Democrat governors will take responsibility for their incompetence.

I am all for staying home until the hospitals are prepared to treat COVID patients and still provide care to those needing it who have more ordinary things. Once that is in place, lets get things opened up.

The state will work to......expand testing

The more tests you perform, the more mild and asymptotic cases that you get.

Good luck trying to open up Wisconsin.

Tests VS Deaths. These leftist make all the rules, and consistently move the goal posts. And the press assists with the coup.

"The more tests you perform, the more mild and asymptotic cases that you get."

And - quelle surprise! - the results will come out every 13 days...

What a crock!

Half of the state's positives come from one county - Milwaukee!

Eight counties haven't even had one case.

And if they’re going to increase testing, that will of course raise the number of new cases.

I’m hoping they’re using the percentage of positives among those tested and not the raw number of positives.

And as you mentioned, does an uptick of one case over the number from the day before restart the 14-day time period?

Way too many loopholes in this system.

The flip side of that is as the number of cases skyrockets the death rate is going to plunge. Eventually people will see the Emperor’s New Clothes and calm down.

Once May 1 hits look out

I think everybody’s willing to give the powers that be until May 1 and then the game is really on

At that point we’re going to have states open - and states that aren’t- and people talking between the states

And if testing is increased the numbers are almost sure to go up.

That’s right, I forgot about that.

That was pointed out the other day by a Republican state lawmaker.

The senate and the assembly are both Republican-controlled, so that should be an advantage.

Fishing in Wisconsin begins the first Saturday in May. Launch a million boats on that day, anglers, and tell your fascist governor to suck lemons.

Evers doesn’t have enough gestapo goons to stop walleye angling.
