REMEMBER: WHO leader, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, fomented a global panic when he claimed the COVID-19 had a 3.4% mortality rate and then compared that number to the annual estimated seasonal flu mortality rate of 0.1%.
A report by Justin Silverman and Alex Washberne on COVID-19 and featured in The Economist earlier this week found that the coronvirus is widespread in the US. The authors argue that 28 million Americans have or have had the coronavirus. If this study is accurate then the mortality rate of the coronavirus is 0.1%.

109 obituaries in a New Jersey paper today. Its not the flu.
Go to worldometers usa and scroll down until you find the chart named Total Deaths.
1 person gives it to 3, 3 to 9, 9 to 27, 27 to 81 to 243 to 729 to 2187 to 6561.... It accelerates until it has trouble finding new cases to spread to. If we hadn't have locked down, we would indeed have been looking at our healthcare system overwhelmed.
And if we didn't have the lockdowns it would have continued to spread exponentially. That's why we had to do lockdowns.
The first chart is just influenza.
The second chart is Influence like which includes coronavirus.
And could the early spikes have been coronavirus? No, they actually do flu tests. That’s how they know whether it’s type a or type b. So the first two spikes are accounted for.
And I don't care if you call "pointing out that you were wrong", "sniveling."
Am I supposed to to look at H1N1 (Swine Flu) deaths this year? You never stated what year you were talking about. Swine Flu was a big deal in 2009. It was considered a pandemic.
What year should we use for comparison?
Wrong. They do flu tests and they are NEGATIVE. Thats why the call it ILI and not the Flu. They have symptoms similar to influenza but they are Negative for the virus. My Lord you people will do anything to avoid admitting youve been bamboozled into a phony panic.
Nope. You don’t get away with writing 39,000 in a one month period and then correcting it to nearly 39,000. Slink away.
Thank you.
Again look at the first chart. It identifies what was influenza type B and what was influenza type A. You can clearly see each of them peaking and those peaks correspond with the first two peaks of the red line.
Yes, I know there was not an even distribution. I am also aware that the time period was 50 days, and I am also aware that the numbers might include fraudulent statistics.
Demsheviks. Or so they hope.
A higher number if correct would tend to support those who are for a longer shutdown of the economy it would seem to me!
That would be about right. The higher they can get the numbers, the more than yell at the rest of to stay home. We are ok for now because we are retired. I worry about so many people we know who have ZERO income now.
True. In times of crisis, Republicans try to find solutions, Democrats resort to blackmail and profiteering.
I agree with your Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, comments. If you look at some of my comments on the Sweden threads, I state that I agree with the Swedish PM, in that people who take the necessary precautions, such as wearing the proper and appropriate PPE, self quarantine, and keep a safe distance when in groups - primarily when they have on PPE, don't need a government telling them what to do. And this is the Swedish PM's stance from the start, as I understand it. But Sweden did implement a law back in March whereby no gatherings of greater than 50 people were allowed. I don't know the reason for the number 50, but perhaps it's based on some principle.
What's going to cause more deaths in America, than almost any other 1st world country, is our lack of PPE at the beginning of the spread, and the fact that many are not taking this killer seriously, even now.
Korea had only 1 death yesterday. Their new death / total death ratio yesterday was only 1.5. Today, I believe they've had 2 deaths. Korea is the one to look to for how to fight this. Koreans take this virus seriously and take the necessary steps to halt its spread.
Korea however, had the advantage of hindsight with the SARS breakout (and/or maybe MERS?). Korea learned its lessons back then. Next time, America WILL be ready too.
Anyway, other than I strongly feel we need to contain this, and the sooner the better, I fully agree we can go about business if proper safety measures are stringently utilized.
I know what you mean, retired too, wife still works, daughter in med school and we have rental properties LLC - lived in Asia for 15 years so know most of the angles of this mess - all them toughies right now - to consider!
I think it’s clear that there is a pretty big discrepancy in the number of deaths actually attributable to COVID19 and the “official” tally.
Bwahahahaha
Not just Korea - Taiwan was on it from day 1.
True. In times of crisis, Republicans try to find solutions, Democrats resort to blackmail and profiteering.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Demsheviks’ playbook has nothing but blackmail, threats and profiteering, no need to be in times of crisis. But they certainly milked this like nobody’s business. Including trying to get people sick - “COme to Chinatown, don’t fear the virus, Wuhan Strong!” etc - Pelosi in SF and De Blasio and other NYC officials. They knew, they wanted people sick. ANd their rantings against hydroxychloroquinine or whatever it’s called - lying that its’ dangerous, preventing its use, etc.
The fact that they actually want people to suffer and die may be hard for some rational people to accept. But it’s a fact. They’re all for killing babies in the womb, and they all like assisted suicide.
