Chinese epicenter Wuhan raises number of virus dead by about 50 percent
China raised Wuhan’s coronavirus death toll by nearly 50 percent Friday following weeks of allegations that officials were underreporting the numbers to make the situation there look better than it actually was.
The city where the coronavirus outbreak is believed to have originated is now reporting 3,869 deaths after adding 1,290 to its previously-announced figure. Numbers of total cases in the city of 11 million were also raised by 325 to 50,333, accounting for about two-thirds of China’s total 82,367 announced cases.
Chinese state media claimed Friday that the reason for the sudden leap was that medical facilities were overwhelmed during the peak of the outbreak and because of that, “belated, missed and mistaken reporting occurred.”

Really true. Back in the Soviet era (Kruschev and Stalin) they had “Five Year Agriculture Plan a stunning success” and many other boasts with phony statistics. Meanwhile millions starved to death and their system was a dismal failure for decades until Reagan pushed them over the edge.

I agree. The real death toll in Hubei Province could be as high as 47,000 because of the draconian quarantine that infected a lot more locals than the CCP admits to.
China lies, and every statement on COVID-19 has been a lies all all along China has underestimated the infection rates and death rates due to COVID-19.
COVID-19 has ravaged China and it is the very same disease that is now in the United States, and the disease could have the same impact here.
So the CCP announced yesterday Wuhan deaths and only a 6.8% GDP contraction during the covid pandamic they started and facilitated? Sounds like Bagdad Bob has taken up residence in China as Bejing Bob, the front man in charge of announcing fantasy numbers for the CCP.

You can’t have your cake and eat it too. China can’t have a WuFlu that killed 10s of thousands just like that-in 2 months - to the point they locked 1/10 of the world down-and its just a hoax here. Quite the conundrum.
Sure, China can understate the numbers, and also plant certain stories with the intention of creating more panic.
Something for everyone, Leftists can point to China’s “success”, while the other stories, cause others to panic and even further damage their economies, either way, China Wins.
I worked pandemics and various natural disasters at a 4-star command (NORAD/NORTHCOM) for the latter part of my 32-year military career - for the J2. I know that when I see a team showing up on the street in a Level-A HAZMAT suit to get a patient - when your country is only reporting <500 cases and <15 deaths - you are lying to me. I've done epidemiology (CBRNE) long enough to know that. I know that when I see them feeding people through the windows in their apartments in Wuhan because they have locked it down so tight - and people are starving to death because of that lock-down that they are willing to crawl out those windows and risk the fall (and many did) to their deaths - that it is very bad.
I know the Chinese know it's not the flu - because they deal with the flu every year - just like we do. And I know when black rain started falling on Japan - it was probably from incinerated bodies - and that 3000k bodies weren't going to cause that to happen.
