"Levitt acknowledged that the family does not know that the drug caused Ligias death. The family has not received a death certificate."
"Ligia was diabetic and had high blood pressure but no known history of heart disease, Levitt said."
So the actual text of the article contradicts the title, and no where in the article does the family specifically blame HQL for her death. The article also states conditions, her age, high blood pressure and diabetes, which are major issues for Covid-19, regardless of what medication is taken.
Then it goes on about the President, and that doctors are prescribing it without "guidance" (what medication guidance is there for Covid-19 other than pray you don't get on a ventilator?), brings up the risks that the doctors should know, like don't give medication that have side effects that makes a patients conditions worse.

Side effects:
"If you have diabetes, be sure to check your blood sugars regularly. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication."
Any competent doctor should have checked the side risks of a medication for each patient to make sure there are not side effects or risks.
Something is not right here.
Correct. The article is total garbage. As you said, it is nothing but a hit piece.
... and that doctors are prescribing it without "guidance" (what medication guidance is there for Covid-19 other than pray you don't get on a ventilator?), ...
That is some morbidly hilarious propaganda from the author. Guidance for treating a disease that no one knew existed four or five months ago.
NBC and authors like this are a cancer on humanity.
