We are learning things about ourselves during our coronapocalypse shut-down arent we, dear readers? Forced to stay inside and find ways to occupy ourselves, most of us have found ways to cope and sometimes even flourish.
Many of us are finding new hobbies. For example, five-time NFL pro bowl star J.J. Watt has developed an affinity for doing the dishes. Ive never really disliked doing the dishes but maybe I can begin to see the nightly routine through Watts eyes and find some joy in the process.
Hey, this is a time for dreaming.
Many of us have been doing what I call Modified COVID Socialization, which involves spending time with friends, family, and colleagues on Zoom, Google Hangouts, and other 21st century luxuries that previous plague-suffers didnt have going for them. Seriously, I dont know how humanity survived plagues before Zoom or Instagram memes.
An integral part of these online hangouts has been the consumption of an adult beverage or three as we chat away the quarantine hours with each other. Sure, the more puritanical among us are no doubt wishing wed invite them to one so they can give us the alcohol isnt a healthy coping mechanism lecture but, thankfully, its easy to tune them out when we are all stuck at home.

As if the coming large-scale protests won’t already be ugly enough.
I guess these dumb asses never heard of Speakeasies.
or the Whiskey Rebellion.
Oh my.... we had to make a bourbon run to Sam’s Monday night... we were down to the stuff that has been aging for YEARS in the back of the cabinet....
I really, really don’t like this world. Sometimes I think I’d rather just get the damn virus and get it over with.
No truer words were ever spoken!
I’d like to take up a new hobby I think I’d enjoy - protesting Dem Governors.
“The left sucks the joy out of everything.”
They really do.
They require command & control for everything. In socialist & communist countries they grow up with it as the norm. Exerting personal liberty in the controlled areas of life is unfathomable to them.
For American youts, our pubic educashun with no critical thinking skills, no father, entitlement single mommies, college propaganda and v-game & social media existences have ruined a great many of them.
This is another thing like herd immunity. It probably is the best thing to do, but not politically viable.
There is NO GOOD REASON to drink alcohol. It destroys families and lives.
You ALL know this to be true! Deny it and you are a LIAR!
If only people could drink, but not get “drunk”. People have no self control. Many people drink just to GET drunk.
Just in case you have lived your life in a bubble, watch COPS and LIVE PD where you can see these “shreds of human debris” become violent, puke all over themselves, and create public disturbances. You can also see what it has done for their “lifestyle”.
If you drink to excess, just imagine that drunk, out of control jerk is YOU. Because when you get drunk, that IS you.
So like the coronavirus we quarantine people instead or try to. We take away their drivers licenses, (not that that stops ANYONE from driving), we put them in jail, (temporarily), we issue restraining orders, (we’ve all seen how well they work) a handgun works much better than a piece of paper with writing on it.
NONE of these measures work. Drunks are still out there on our highways (or will be) ready to crash head on into an unsuspecting FAMILY, maybe YOURS and we just continue to ignore the problem.
Have YOU ever driven DRUNK? I know I have, hundreds of times. I got lucky (as well as all the other people on the road with me). I never killed anyone, never got a DWI.
GIVE IT UP! You’ll be happier, your family will love you for it. You and others will be safer on the highways unless of course you get hit head on by a drunk driver.
A little drunk driving logic.
For work, I went to a new car show in Syracuse, a friend (another drunk) and I cut out of the show early and went to the bar across the street. We got hammered, then drove back to Rochester in the dark on the Thruway. My friend quickly fell asleep.
Here comes the “drunk logic”....
To avoid falling asleep myself, I decided to get back as soon as possible. I am CERTAIN that I hold the land speed record from Syracuse to Rochester. I drove continuously over 115 mph all the way back. I was impressed with the time I made not that I could have killed myself, my friend, or others.
I no longer drink alcohol at all. I never was an alcoholic. I was just a social drunk. No twelve steps, I just quit. Get WHATEVER help you need (if you need it). IF (BIG IF) you can control yourself from getting drunk, DO SO! It is best though, to just give it up.
FYI, dry drunks can get a bit preachy and overbearing. I am glad you stopped drinking and it has worked for you but a lot of people can drink and not have a problem.
Another FYI...many people cannot control how much they eat. Obesity is a huge problem.
We must all stop eating food.
Just because you deliberately got drunk frequently doesnt mean others do.
I was a teetotaler until 35. Now find fine beverages an enhancement to life. May have gotten drunk a half dozens times in 17 years, most of that just discovering limits by chance (2 beers after hours of ice skating hits fast; Founders Stout has much higher % than expected) and learned to respect limits.
Scripture clearly recommends alcohol in moderation, though demand excess you choose to indulge in. The vine is often used as a positive analogy/parable/symbol, no question of its intended use as wine.
Im not at all in the mood to have a bunch of ChiCom water-carrying, UN offshoot Eurotrash getting in between me and my craft beer while Im Zoom-ing away my stay-at-home time with friends and family.
Other than that I'm pretty reasonable about safety suggestions.
Adult Beverages = Sanitizer
Your first name = your real first name.
Your last name = your real last name.
It got mine right
