Want to end the quarantine? St. Louis Fed leader says universal testing is the answer

Universal testing for COVID-19 would be the best way to get the U.S. economy back up and running, St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank President James Bullard said Tuesday.

Bullard, speaking on a conference call organized by the St. Louis Regional Chamber, said closing nonessential businesses “is appropriate for now but it’s a crazy inefficient policy. You don’t really want to go back to this quarantine policy in the future if you don’t have to.”

He said that after coronavirus infection numbers start to drop, but without a vaccine available, the nation’s goal should be to get healthy workers back on the job while keeping the public safe.

“Widespread testing of everybody in the economy would put an end to this crisis,” Bullard added. “We can’t get there right now but this is costing us $25 billion a day.”

His comments come as President Donald Trump and several governors have formed task forces to talk about restarting the economy. So far, though, states don’t even have enough tests for people with known exposure to the coronavirus, let alone enough to test all workers.

Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., told the Chamber last week that antibody tests, which determine if individuals have recovered from the new coronavirus strain, should be available for some by the end of the month and more widely by the end of the summer.

Bullard compared the task of producing hundreds of millions of test kits with the process of mobilizing the economy for war. “At these kinds of numbers you really want to ramp that up at all costs,” he said. “All businesses need these tests, households need these tests, schools need these tests. Everyone needs them because they need to know where the virus is to manage this going forward.”

Masks would be a lot cheaper.

Contact tracing and testing is a lot less testing than univeral testing.

Maybe universal testing in hot spots.

Suppose the findings are only 15% of us have been infected?”

THen those 15 percent isolate themselves for 2 weeks until the virus is out of their system - and DIES because it hasn’t been passed to anyone else.

Meanwhile, the other 85 percent go to work.

This is how they do it in Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea. They haven’t closed their economies, they’ve isolated the positive-testers.

“...near existential trifecta of threats : health, the economy, our liberty.”

Nope, it’s a QUADFECTA — health, the economy, our liberty, and TAKE DOWN TRUMP.

Everybody just needs to get a universal id and their papers in order and we will let them back into society.

But you don’t need that ID to vote.

The lockdown continues until a vaccine, a cure, universal testing, or we get a Prog President. Elect Trump you want a continuous lockdown.

Only a Prog President will be able to calm the hysteria and give permission for our country to lift the lockdown. Sure people are going to get sick and some will die but that is acceptable losses to advance the Prog agenda.

The virus is not going away. If you want zero chance of dying from Corona you will need to isolate forever and enjoy your communism.

A Commie’s dream.”

No, it’s what they’re doing in Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore to KEEP THEIR ECONOMIES OPEN. Everybody gets tested, and those who test positive stay home for two weeks. Everybody else keeps going to work.

The “commie’s dream” is America, where we close all businesses and force everyone to stay home, because we don’t know who does or doesn’t have the virus.

BS. Can’t wait for testing any longer. It you are at high risk, and you know who you are, stay isolated. The rest of you get back to work!!!

“The virus is not going away.”

If we had universal testing - and isolated the people who tested positive until the virus left their systems - the virus would go away.

Do you notice how people with continuing high paying jobs and probably lots of money in the bank aren’t that worried about a long term quarantine?

I think the medical community risks losing the public’s trust over this.

Which could mean, that the next time, when there really is a dire pandemic, nobody will listen.

Proving that this man is too STOOOOOPID to be entrusted with such a frightening amount of power.

- Antibody test does not yet exist
- When it does we’ll have to make enough to test 350 MILLION PEOPLE! We might have enough by the time COVID-87 is a thing.
- If you test negative and then can’t go back to work, then what? You’ll go out and get infected on purpose so that you’ll test positive and can go back to work. You and 100 million of your closest friends.

I read a day or two ago that the FDA has only approved the Cellex Antibody Test but there are 70 (yes, SEVENTY) companies with tests not approved yet. How the hell can there be only ONE company with an approved antibody test at this stage?

Interesting. Liberal fascists won’t test everyone for HIV or even penalize its spread anymore ... though that’s lethal.

And liberals want to test everyone for the Wuhan coronavirus and require papers to prove you’re “safe” but won’t do the same for illegal aliens coming in with TB, Chagas disease and measles.

“Do you notice how people with continuing high paying jobs and probably lots of money in the bank aren’t that worried about a long term quarantine?”

I notice it every day when I see Drs. Fauci and Birx.

It’s interesting that their solution is a vaccine, not universal testing. But universal testing could kill the virus and open up the economy.

How about we stop pretending that COVID is the end of the world so our Progressive Masters can save us?

I would rather we had let this Flu run its natural course than surrender our future and freedom to the New World Order. Many Millions more die from Dictators than all the Viral Pandemics put together.

We’re not waiting until the end of Summer to open. Open now. If you’re old and fat and diabetic and worried, take responsibility for yourself and stay the hell home.
