so if I’m out walking without the heavy bandanna I fashioned, and I pass a masked couple who happen to be anal about this virus and who then decide to call the cops on me...you’d consider that a public service? because if we make masks mandatory that will happen...and won’t that make for a friendly neighborhood...?

Gall bladder surgery was a major procedure back then and if Typhus was involved, the risks to everyone involved with the procedure also enormous. I can see why she balked; interesting that they didn’t try to force her to do it. Now a day it would be antibiotics and or a flushing of the sack with kanamycin surgical rinsing solution via egd that might have cured the problem.
