Actually, CA has made some other states look stupid.
Very low per capita infections and dead.
Statewide, all State rules are nothing but admonitions. It’s not enforced, it’s “do your best”. And it’s that way because they started early.
Of course there are some cities and counties with more strident rules.
But in my town it’s almost normal now. Not quite, restaurants and bars are closed except for take out. Car repair, all home supply and grocery is open. And bunch of stuff that’s not technically kosher, because it’s enforced at the county and municipal levels as needed.
there are vast swathes of CA where absolutely nothing has changed. Geographically, at least 3/4 of the state didn’t even smell a fart.
Financially, better than that. There was like $10bil in the rainy day fund. Years of surplus, banked.
While I know it’s cool to hate CA, I think a lot of it is jealousy.
I want to scream every time a see a lefty talk about how they are perfectly healthy, but “self quarantine” to stay safe.
The lefties with the “#quaranteam” FB/Twitter profile pics are insane. They will brag, “I haven’t left my house in 8 days like the Governor wants #StayHome.” FFS, get outside, take a walk, etc. It is not healthy, mentally or physically, to stay inside for days on end.

Easily fixed. Quarentine the state. No one leaves. No flights. No ships.Have 72 hours to get what your state needs befor the military seals off the border to adjacent states and all water way traffic. Watch how fast he changes his mind! National Guard wont even challenge what the feds have. Seal off California and also tell them that they will also have to wait an additional week after they decide to reopen, just to make sure!

MANY, MANY brides have delayed their weddings til July and August Newsom better be prepared for revolt!!

Politicians are elected to make the tough decisions, not to delegate to scientists. We could also reduce flu deaths by quarantining every winter but the electorate wouldn’t stand for that. I have a feeling they won’t stand for this much longer, either.

Some loan companies absolutely refuse to extend or reschedule loan payments. Never ever use ACH to pay. Got a little money from DoorDash today. Immediately taken by the loan at 1201 tonight, leaving me with a grand total of $1.28. Now can’t pay rent, buy foods or even fuel my vehicle to do further deliveries.
Unemployment is taking weeks to process. Earned too much last year to get any government assistance (the stimulus) as my family is overseas. And all my extra money tied up in real estate.

Based on the timeframe they have said for a vaccine which is up to a year and a half away that puts us at September 2021. For a while many of the stadiums have been paying their staff who would normally be working games for the time being. That is not sustainable as there’s no income from fans. If he follows through with this expect another round of massive layoffs from every sports facility, convention center, amusement park or similar facility.
The larger attractions like professional sports (NBA, MLB etc.) Disney and other national music parks will probably somehow survive, however I suspect many of the smaller regional attractions will never reopen at that point. Newsom is insane to think you can cancel a huge portion of your economic activity for almost 2 years With very little repercussions, he’s under some weird illusion that he can say it’s a fine to reopen and magically expect these places to open.
Looks like MLB will be shutting down from now until end of May, with 4 furloughs. April 15, 30, May 15 and May 31, depending on criticality to the organization (I was hit with the first round March 31)

The $1 million per club pledged to pay stadium vendors and staff in early March is long gone. 500 people is only $2000 a piece...

I think State of CA will have a budget problem very soon... Other states will have the same problem as well...Because of this shutdown, less tax is being collected.
I am sure that Governor will propose raising taxes...How about Proposition 13? Governor is not a fan of Prop 13...He will argue that Prop 13 should be abolished because of coronavirus crisis.

What if the coronavirus vaccine is not developed?
Scientists have not come up with vaccine for AIDS yet...They are still working on it...
What if the scientists take 5 years to develop the coronavirus vaccine?
Then Governor Gavin will not allow fans to attend games at Dodger Stadium or Angels Stadium for 5 years?
Let the sporting events to take place in CA...Let people decide whether they want to take a chance and go watch baseball or basketball...If you don’t feel comfortable going to a baseball game, then stay home and watch the game on TV...
Governor Gavin believes in letting women decide whether to have abortion or not...But, he seems to be uncomfortable letting people come up with their own decisions in other matters...
Dodger Stadium, Staples Center, Angels Stadium, and Honda Center...Those places employ many people...At this time, they are not making money...
