Yes, the earlier after infection the better. The patient need not even have a condition needing the hospital, yet. The importance of early administration is due to the main problem Covid-19 creates. It is not an ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) situation. What Covid-19 is doing is it is directly robbing the hemoglobin of it’s oxygen, literally freeing the oxygen. THAT is not a “respiratory” problem and the lungs are initially fine. The robbing of the oxygen from the hemoglobin is what Covid-19 continues to do. Meanwhile, the longer it persists, the respiratory environment, and eventually other tissues, are being inflamed by the free roaming oxygen, leading to injury of those tissues and finally to respiratory function problems. When Hydroxychlorquine blocks Covid-19 from robbing the hemoglobin of it’s oxygen, as early as possible, many other ancillary problems with Covid-19 are prevented and the body’s immune system can fight it.
