Celebrities across the entertainment spectrum took to Twitter to express despair over the news that independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders had suspended his presidential campaign.
“Today I am suspending my campaign,” Sanders tweeted with a video message earlier this week. “But while the campaign ends, the struggle for justice continues on.”
“I feel so hopeless and devastated and powerless,” model and actress Emily Ratajkowski tweeted with the hashtag, “#BernieIsOurHope.”
“In all this darkness, he made me believe that people, together, could be the light,” comedian Sarah Silverman wrote. “He continues to be an inspiration. And he’ll never stop fighting for us. Thank you, Bernie. For me, you’re right up there w Mr. Rogers.”
