Thank you, Doctor. I do understand the science. It is also ‘the science’ that the ionophore action of BCQ qyickly reduces the vural load when there is not a zinc insufficiency. Thank you for adding to the discussion of ‘the science’.

Ok that being said, I hear what you are saying and it may prove true at the bench level. What my problem is that getting zinc into a critically ill patient presents a hell of a routine problem. TPN increases the respiratory quotient and zinc is a trace metal that comes in TPN. If the patient has a dobhoff getting zinc through what amounts to 3 feet of tubing with a tiny little radius — well it clogs things up. I am unaware of IV zinc preparations but will check it out.
Plaquenil may be the best at quelling the autoimmune response. It is not being used as a direct antiviral. I believe that perhaps the good thing to come out of this will be a golden age of virology and treatment.
