The premier of a Canadian province that sheltered thousands of stranded American airline passengers after the 9/11 attacks questioned the humanity of U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday after Trump banned the export of N95 protective masks to Canada.
The conservative leader of another province compared it to one family member feasting while letting another one starve. And yet another premier said it reminded him of 1939 and 1940, when Canada was part of the fight against global fascism while the United States sat out the first years.
Canadians across the country expressed hurt and disappointment that their neighbor and longstanding ally is blocking shipments of the masks from the United States to ensure they are available in the U.S. during the coronavirus pandemic. Canadian health care workers like those in the U.S. are in dire need of the masks that provide more protection against the virus that causes COVID-19.
Newfoundland Premier Dwight Ball said one of the great lessons in humanity is that in times of crisis you dont stop being human.
To say that Im infuriated by the recent actions of President Trump of the United States is an understatement, Ball said. I cannot believe for a second that in a time of crisis that President Trump would even think about banning key medical supplies to Canada.

Everyone in Canada had the same information about the spread of this virus. Canada had the same amount of time to prepare as did the US.
AND, they have only 10% of the population of the US. Apparently, the canucks haven't taken notice we have a shortage of N-95 masks HERE.
What have you done for us lately, Justine?
You need to keep looking for a more negative story to post. Theyre out there!
They need our help?
I thought Canada’s health care system was superior to ours?
I understand what you’re saying. However, thousands of Canadian nurses cross the bridge and go to Detroit to the hospitals there everyday. That’s just one example of how Canadians are trying to help the US. I have to agree with the premier. I tweeted the president and said, do you remember 9/11, How the people in Gander sheltered US citizens trying to get back home after the FAA cleared the air space over the entire US? Canada and the US are siblings. We need to take care of each other. that’s just my two cents I realized everyone’s going to disagree with me
“Newfoundland Premier Dwight Ball said one of the great lessons in humanity is that in times of crisis you dont stop being human. “
We also dont stop being nations.
Try it for once. Just because Canada wants to be the loose girl at the party, doesnt mean we are going to give you a ride home after dark.
Last I heard Canada and Mexico were exempt from that ban. When did that change?
Has Canada gotten any masks from US suppliers since December of last year?
If so, Id say the flow has been unmolested until the past two weeks.
I guess Trump doesn’t have a chance running for election in the socialist state of Canada where they boast about the preparedness and function of their single payor government run healthcare system.
Apples and oranges. 9/11 was unforeseen. COVID-19 was coming down the road. Most chose to ignore it.
Yes,Canada did help us on 9/11.And I think that we should assist Canada now to a reasonable extent. The difference between 9/11 and now is that on 9/11 Canada wasn’t experiencing an attack...whereas now both countries have a big problem.
This appears to be a lie from #m, this was addressed back on April 3rd. Navarro said that 3M is lying. This from the NY Slimes
>>All we get from the C.E.O. on down to the head of their P.R. department is lie upon lie, the latest of which which is dead wrong is that we demanded 3M not send production from its U.S. plants to our friends and allies in Canada and Mexico, Mr. Navarro said.<<

To tell you the truth I am not sure at all I really don’t know. But that would be quite interesting to know that fact.
Please forgive my stupid fellow Canadians. Our population is SO anti-Trump, if this attitude is not woven into every comment, the “leader” is subsequently demonized by the media.
Comparing this virus with 9/11 is just plain stupid. Canada helped Americans because Americans were attacked and needed help. Canada was not attacked. No planes flew into buildings in Canada. Of COURSE Canada was in a position to help, as we should.
This current attack is in both countries. Each country a) was responsible for being prepared, and, b) has to take care of its own before helping anyone else. Common sense, people, common sense.
I like to bring it down to the personal level. Imagine if it were your own Grandma you were trying to save, you had less than what you need to protect her, and your neighbor demanded that you take from your depleted stock to give to him, because he doesn’t feel like making it himself.
Canada isn’t releasing its infection numbers to the public, so its hard to tell what level of concern there should be.
Right up there with North Korea on information sharing.
“Common sense, people, common sense.”
It ain’t so common anymore.
The media (aka Democrats) are loving this pandemic. So much potential to create negative articles re Trump. Their most difficult task is trying to contain their excitement. Second, is trying to laser focus on what hysterical subject matter will cause the most harm (to Trump). Better than sex for them.
What would we do without them? Wake me up when this s*** is over, please.
These provinces probably elected Trudeau for a second term. Blame him. We are in a America First world now.
