From Europe to South America, U.S. allies are complaining about the superpower's "Wild West" tactics in outbidding or blocking shipments to buyers who have already signed deals for vital medical supplies.
In France and Germany, senior officials said the United States was paying far above the market price for medical-grade masks, on occasion winning contracts through higher bids even after European buyers believed a deal was done, and Brazil's health minister reported a similar incident.
"Money is irrelevant. They pay any price because they are desperate," one high-level official in German Chancellor Angela Merkel's ruling CDU/CSU group told Reuters.
A German government source said, "Americans are on the move, carrying a lot of money."
Since the virus was first recorded in China late last year, the pandemic has spread around the world. Governments in Europe, the Americas and elsewhere are desperately trying to build up supplies for medics, nursing home staff and the public.

Canada’s still mad we rescinded an order of PPE for them.
The US has the most fake news media in the world.
Sucks to be them.
The Canuks have always hated us. Jealousy I suppose. Just imagine what life would be like for them if instead of the US on it’s southern border Canada had Mexico.

Penis envy.

That’s why everyone wants to come here and everyone wants to be us.
Gunsmoke.
All nations will be struggling for their own interests.
There’s some cooperation behind the scenes, too. Naturally, most of the equipment has gone to New York to try to stop it there. That effort is an attempt to benefit people in the other states and in Canada.
I liked the wild west.
No time for tea and crumpets.
F em.
Get a backbone
There’s mills in Canada producing the cedar pulp needed for 3M to produce the masks in St. Paul Minn. The mills have extra shifts going 24 hours while practicing social distancing. If we decide to keep the pulp in Canada and produce the masks in Canada would that be breaking the free trade law? 3M is an international company with offices and warehousing in Canada,if they can’t fill our scheduled shipments as promised we have to find a trade partner we can trust.
Seeing that article here recently that said Canada was upset because Donald Trump, who following the oath of office as President of The United States to ‘’preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of The United States’’(meaning We The People) was the final straw in my disgust and contempt for the Canadians.
Wasps chew the bark of tress and turn into a pulp to build their nests. Ever take a good look at a wasps nest?. It’s paper like. Hell’s Bells, if the bugs can do it we humans can do it.
You have to use cedar sawdust for the antibacterial qualities but you do it your way.
