I also freeze half and half and heavy cream.

I have thought of doing that. Doesn't it separate when you thaw it?

It can...you have to mix it up a bit, after thawing.

I’ve found freezing in ice cube trays works best.

But, in a hurry, or pinch, freezing the entire quart into a quart FREEZER bag, will do.
