If I buy more than I can carry in one load, I leave the non-perishables in the car for a day or two, and bring them up on my next trip anywhere.

What’s it to you? If you want to come and carry my groceries up three flights of stairs for me, then please do! I’m 72 years old with physical disabilities, but at least I carry my own groceries up the stairs, at my own pace, and don’t expect anyone else to do it for me.
