UPENN’s METHODOLOGY:

* The first will compare HCQ against a placebo for infected patients who are quarantined at home to see if it can reduce the number of days that people need to be quarantined. This substudy will take two weeks, Amaravadi said.

* The second will study a high dose of HCQ against a low dose for patients who are infected and hospitalized to determine if it can reduce the amount of time it takes to discharge a patient. No placebo will be used for this substudy, which will also last two weeks.

* The third substudy will last two months and will compare the drug with a placebo for health care workers treating infected patients, the goal being to establish whether or not HCQ can prevent infection.

Both the first and second substudies are “double-blind,” meaning neither the patients nor doctors know if what is being used is the drug or the placebo.

However, if patients start getting worse, both substudies will allow them to be “unblinded” and treated with HCQ.

Hydroxychloroquine needs to be given to every US adult medically cleared, as a preventative. RIGHT NOW!!!

Trump should use the Defense Procurement Act to force every US drug maker to crank it out 24/7. Roll it out like a temporary vaccine. Use the India Protocol. It works in 3 hours. Need a booster once a week. Costs $20. Less than $50 billion to stop this in it’s tracks.

Why are countries giving it to first responders and med professionals as a preventative (including the US!), but the rest of us have to lock the doors and go bankrupt? Take the first dose, go back to work the NEXT day!!!

Someone’s giving Trump reallllly bad advice.

I read this article, and I have to ask: Are they going to include the azithromycin as part of the study? It’s the joint administration of that with HCQ which “anecdotally” has the greatest impact. HCQ alone is reputed to be helpful, but not as dramatically as the combo.

And then, there’s the variable of zinc levels.

If Fauci headed things years ago, we’d probably still have Polio.

There is no time for double blind studies on it, and it is unethical to give placebos to people when the possible outcome is serious injury or death.

The double-blind-Fauci red herring needs to end. I’m sick of President Fauci, who has single handidly destroyed the country.

This is now the fourth or fifth "clinical trial" of the drug in the US. Nobody wants to be left out.
"Dr. Amaravadi has been studying the drug as a treatment for cancer for more than a decade. He said side effects on cancer patients have not been severe, which could indicate HCQ might be safe for coronavirus treatment."

And of course the results will never be “certified” until Harvard concludes a 2 year peer review of the procedures used in the UP study.

I love how this works. They find a medication that could have serious positive consequences in a deadly pandemic, and several weeks later they talk about testing it next week.

Sclerotic bureaucracies kill.

Silver nano particles , or colloids of silver , silver ions kill all viruses and bacteria

It’s amazing to me that the federal government , which approves it ( silver ) with thousands of other applications , seems to think somehow it doesn’t work internally

It most certainly does - and I’ve been making it myself for 30 years and I’ve never been sick and neither is my wife and kids

It is simple ; it is free ; and there is no downside to it

Hydroxychloroquine , Azt. and other antiviral drugs are also effective- but you must have someone else manufacture them for you ; you may have to get a prescription for them ; and they may be expensive ; and they may also have toxicity or other side effects

The fact that there is so much media coverage of hydroxychloroquine and not one pundit save one doctor I heard on one radio show one time even mentions colloidal silver shows how well the government has done and suppressing this vital antiviral and antibacterial and anti-fungal

Now the question is why would the federal government not want everyone to understand the value and application of the silver ion?

At this point in my life I’m gonna let them answer that question

The HCQ protocol has already saved over a 1000 people. This bull shit is like saying we need double blind studies to determine if eating chocolate is safe and effective. (Yes, there might be side effects...so what)

Yup, and Trump still loves the guy. I sent a note to Trumpmthe day after I first saw the lying, back-stabbing, deep-state Fauci and suggested he keep Fauci off White House property.

As for these test, govt employees and school teachers have ZERO sense of urgency other than tenure. This testing crap is a joke. Line up 50 people, get their names, give them a handful of pills and report back in a week. Done.

This is an Ivy League School, right?

Students sent home, right?

And they are now, weeks after this treatment was mentioned by the President, thinking “maybe we'll run some clinical tests on it!”

Little late to the game. (Must be some grant money in there somewhere!)

Should be embarrassed.

I agree. After a five day treatment, it stays in the blood for 40 to 50 days.

Don’t worry after 50,000 needless deaths they might consider to begin using it

It peaks around 3 hours after the initial dose. The India Protocol prescribes 400mg, then 400mg a few hours later. That’s it, you are temporarily safe from the virus. Cleared to work in hours.

Then boosters every week, up to a max limit.

Half life is over 20 days.

This is insane. Whoever talked Trump out of not following his instinct needs to be drawn and quartered. And Trump needs serious 2nd opinions.

Bad data.
Bad models.
Bad advice on Hydroxychloroquine.

Seems this ain’t an accident to me anymore.

Ping. Interesting sub-study list, including a prophylaxis sub-study.

I find the need for trials on HQC absolutely outrageous when there are thousands of real life patients/candidates who would gladly authorize its use on them rather than die from the virus. The drugs have proven safe for humans, albeit not against the virus. However, it's not the virus that makes an off label use risky, it's the dosage amounts and if the amounts to treat the virus are no more than those that have been tolerated in the treatment of malaria, then what on earth is the excuse for not giving dying patients a right to try. It's a no brainer and to make the whole situation even more tragic is the thought that a whole lot of people will die before the bureaucrats get through screwing around with their trials and finally admitting the drug is effective for the treatment of COVID-19.
