The numbers have been devastating. More than 215,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases across the United States, with a staggering 84,000 in New York alone. A death toll — more than 5,000 at last count — that has already surpassed 9/11’s.

The overall article linked here isn't really relevant to what I wanted to discuss with the Freeps. But this first paragraph above got me thinking.

In light of the deaths and the economic devastation - setting aside China's negligence or fault for the moment and even setting aside politics for the moment....

Are terrorists watching this?

One Adult Care facility in Kirkland, WA has had ZERO residents or staff affected so far.

Since they're at "ground zero" among the facilities that have been devastated by this virus, it would be good to know what they have done right.

Not let anyone in or out.

My mother in law is in an assisted living facility. They shut that place down almost immediately. The residents are not allowed to leave their rooms. Meals are delivered.

I don’t know what protocol the staff are doing but no residents or guests come in or out.

"“If you wait till you see it,” Birx said Tuesday, “it’s too late.”"

To open the country up and not get a yuge second wave we're going to need a ton of ongoing, quick results testing. The testing will be yugely cheaper than keeping the country shutdown.

A death toll — more than 5,000 at last count — that has already surpassed 9/11’s.

But not passed the weekly death toll of children killed by abortion in the US PRE-Trump. Before Trump took office the death merchants were killing 4,000 black Kids alone per week and that is was than half their take. Have not seen newer figures.

A more relevant comparison would be to the death toll from H1N1, which Obozo ignored for 6 months...

Homelessness? Illegals can get away with murder? Adults being potty trained is optional?

California and Washington are still seeing a lot of new cases, but nothing like the New York/New Jersey disaster.

But yesterday, at what we are being told is the height of the epidemic, thirty states saw five or fewer deaths, four states saw six-to-ten deaths, and five states saw eleven-to-twenty deaths. In other words, nearly 80% of the states have thus far avoided large death tolls.

The irony - or perhaps it is not irony, but bias - is that the governors being praised by the media are governors in states that have been hit hard by the virus - New York, California, and Washington.

Trump is being slammed for his "slow" response, but he formed his CV task force and implemented his China ban in late January, when there were only about 20 CV cases nationally, and no deaths. Washington governor Jay Inslee is being widely praised, but he did not ban large gatherings until late February or early March, and did not impose the stay-at-home policy until mid-March.

My purpose isn't to bash Inslee, who has done a decent job in my opinion, but to point out that a very different standard is being applied to Trump than to these Democratic governors.

Honest question, not trying to be snarky. What does testing do? And it seems to me, by preventing herd immunity we are setting up the next big wave.

The numbers have been devastating.

Yeah, to the 10 million people so far who have lost their jobs, can't pay rent or mortgage and the millions who have been financially ruined.

More than 215,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases across the United States, with a staggering 84,000 in New York alone. A death toll — more than 5,000 at last count — that has already surpassed 9/11’s.

That eference to 9/11 attacks again. Do all these jokers get the same talking points from the DNC?
Reality, nearly 1800 die every single day in America from heart disease. Coronavirus total deaths of 5,000 so we are supposed to go back becoming cave dwellers and assume the fetal position??

Funny, I never heard the media compare the annual death toll from the flu to 9/11, and it typically causes 5,000 deaths (often much more) PER MONTH for 6 months, every single year.

But hey, let's just keep the world shut down for another few months, maybe even a year or two.

Why all of the surprise of cases with dramatic increase in the number of test going up? Please start reporting test per millions made and deaths per millions and compare that to other country’s to see how we are doing! I think our deaths per million are still quite low in comparison to all most all other country’s - am I wrong? Doesn’t TRUMP see the value in that - if true that would be up lifting!

What would it have looked like if obama had “did something”?
It would have been a 10x scarier shutting down America under a President who would have probably enjoyed shutting down America..
Everything Nancy Pelosi wanted she would have got.
And i imagine it would have taken a decade to pull out of the economic devastation they would have created.

**********

Could possibly be as simple as how they report deaths. If not every death is automatically listed as “coronavirus related”, the facility doesn’t have a high incidence of coronavirus related deaths. Maybe the managers of that facility aren’t interested in the huge financial windfall that comes with being a victim of events in this country.
