The veggies were certainly a fair exchange; however, those didn't come to us necessarily because the Natives gave them to us. After all, its not like the Natives invented them. They just discovered them.
In the sad final analysis, primitive people don't really have anything to offer a more developed culture.
I often wonder if primitive people are happier than more developed ones. They have their times of anguish, but simplicity appeals to me from time to time.
They domesticated them and developed them. ex. The source species for corn is so different than domesticated corn for many years researchers didn't recognize it.
